Cowboys cut safety Mike Hamlin, a fifth-round pick in 2009 04:33 PM CDT on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 By TODD ARCHER / The Dallas Morning News The Cowboys have one less player from the 2009 draft class on the team, having cut safety Mike Hamlin. Hamlin was active for the first two games but did not play against Houston or Tennessee. A fifth-round pick last year, Hamlin played in only six games because a wrist injury suffered in the preseason and had just one special teams tackle. He was viewed as a possible challenger to Alan Ball at free safety this summer but it never materialized. The Cowboys have not replaced Hamlin yet on the roster, but they did work out safety Quintin Demps last week. The Cowboys have linebacker Jason Williams, tackle Robert Brewster, quarterback Stephen McGee, linebacker Victor Butler, linebacker Brandon Williams, kicker David Buehler and tight end John Phillips left from the draft class but only Buehler plays a substantial role as the kicker.
