"Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman announced Thursday morning that Stephen McGee will be the starting quarterback for the Aggies in their season opener.
A&M opens at home against Arkansas State on Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. McGee had been vying for the starting job with sophomore Jerrod Johnson and freshman Ryan Tannehill.
"He hasn’t thrown an interception all (fall) camp," Sherman said of McGee, a senior from Burnet. "But nothing’s set in stone, except that he’s the starter in the first game right now."
Sherman said McGee’s past experience as the A&M starter had nothing to do with his decision.
"It’s based on what he showed me solely," he said.'
I watched him play at Burnet HS and for those who think he can't pass the ball, just sit back and watch. He can throw with the best of them....
lets see if he actually gets to throw the ball now that fran is gone. but he has no receivers and the o line is young. johnson may see time in games where the offense has to change gears due to the inability to beat the pass rush.
Hmmmmm....where have I seen this concept before.....where could it have been. Come on Tea sippers....get original.
I thought it was original! Other people use horns, but the UT guys are clever and used thumbs!

Sorry it's not as original as "when an aggie scores, an aggie scores" or even as original as one of your "yells" when you bend over and say something that don't make sense, but us "tea sippers" are too busy trying to win National Championships, Oh and gold medals at the Olympics in swimming
I think A&M will be in trouble this year. Switching offensive styles with players that don't fit the system can be tough for a season or two. Much like Callahan at Nebraska, etc.
once again, what is an attempt at football discussion turns into an infantile spat (thanks for some actual contribution ladies mike)
and to add to tlm's point, one has to be leary of any west coast offense in college as they have rarely been succesful. the question is just how extensive a west coast style sherman is trying to implement.
I'm sorry but I can't take A&M football seriously. They only get geard up for one game a year and that's all they seem to care about.

+1 Everyone has (and is allowed) their rivalry game (see: Texas/Oklahoma), but Aggie football is much more than that one game a year.
And KM, I'd be wary of getting into a battle of wits w/ rjv. Throw your preconceived notions about the TAMU education aside...you're clearly outmatched.

Reason: certainly wasn't a spelling error...ooooh, the irony. Homonyms are a b!tch. Thanks, cast.

I never mentioned anything about the education at A&M. It was just about their perceived obession with one game. Someone with wits should of been able to see that.

Meh. People always tend to jump to that as soon as they let their anti-TAMU bias show. If that wasn't your intent, then I obviously made a mistake. My argument about rivalry games in general still stands, though, even if MY attempt to generalize failed.

An average margin of +2 in 4 games. That's about as close as it can get (it's a margin of +1 in 4 visits to Stillwater).
oklahoma was the team fran could never beat. (of course first and goal and never handing the ball over to a 270 pound back sure makes sense). this year is back in college station again and there should be another 80.000 in the stands (of course, these 80.000 fans will clearly not be an indication of any excitement about the game).
I guarantee you the Aggies and Kyle field will be bonkers when the Red Raiders head to College Station this year.
Careful Blake. We can't have anyone challenging T-sip fans' obsession with how obsessed A&M is with them.

I believe the Spurs still have life after Scola. I believe I've already heard every possible arguement for or against the trade. I respect the rights of others to rehash the same tired points over and over, but I will not join them. I will protest the sensless obsession over Scola with my silence.
