The Cowboys have had five players selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the past five years.

Fans should consider themselves lucky, and enjoy the attention the inductions of Rayfield Wright, Bob Hayes, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith have brought the Cowboys.

Three more players should be inducted in the next few seasons: Deion Sanders, Larry Allen and Charles Haley.

Then it's going to be awhile.

Sanders, who should be a first-ballot inductee, is eligible next year. As Aikman says, Sanders is the only shutdown cornerback he ever played with or against.

That's good enough for me.

As for Haley, a finalist for the first time this year, he'll eventually get in because his numbers are too good to ignore. He had 100.5 sacks and was an integral part of each of the five Super Bowl champion teams he played on.

Key members of the franchise from the early '90s will tell you acquiring Haley was the key move that put the Cowboys over the top. He was a relentless pass-rusher who changed games with his intensity and performance.

Then there's Allen, one of the most devastating blockers of his era. For a stretch of four or five seasons, he was the game's best offensive lineman without equivocation.

A member of two all-decade teams, he'll get in soon after he's eligible in 2013.

Then there's going to be a long wait until DeMarcus Ware and Jason Witten retire. There's no doubt Ware, at his current level of production, is headed to Canton, and I don't see why Witten won't receive considerable consideration. He's not a no-brainer, for now, but he'll definitely be in the conversation.
