Lions Veteran DE Has Season-ending Surgery Published on August 10, 2009 by OfficialWire NewsDesk ALLEN PARK, MI Detroit Lions veteran defensive end Jared DeVries suffered a season-ending injury Monday when the 11-year pro ruptured his Achilles' tendon, the team said. The injury occurred during the Lions' full-padded morning practice. Coach Jim Schwartz reported it was a non-contact injury. DeVries, 33, has spent his entire professional career with the Lions. He started 10 games in 2008 when he had a career-high 45 tackles with two sacks and one forced fumble.
