| Source: Terrell Owens cut by Dallas Cowboys - ESPN Updated: March 5, 2009, 12:18 AM ET Source: Cowboys cut T.O. Comment Email Print Share ESPN.com news services The Dallas Cowboys have released controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens, sources told ESPN's Michael Smith late Wednesday. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones did not deny the team is discussing the possible release of Owens in late February. "That Stephen and I were debating about Terrell, that's just misinformation," Jones said regarding his son, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones at the time. "That's just not accurate. I don't know where that comes from. That's just total misinformation." The Cowboys paid Owens a $12 million signing bonus just last year, included as part of a new four-year, $34 million deal. Owens caught 69 passes for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. |

This is the worst thing the Cowboys could have done.. Who will they blame when Romo self destructs in December yet again for throwing to Witten way too much in crucial situations? They no longer have their scape goat. We'll see if the blame goes where it deserves at the feet of Romo and Garret.

| Give the guy a break(Jones) he at least had the sac to kut ties with what everyone thought was a kancer . But I would have thought a trade woulda been more probable then his out right release , maybe a trade for Chad Johnson lol . What free agent recievers are left?

I'm glad he is gone. I'm not sure Romo is the answer at QB, but Owens definitely was counter productive. He really emasculated the coaching staff, and in the end didn't help us win any playoff games with his numerous bobbled/dropped/missed passes. I would like to see the Cowboys bring in another legit WR. Bolden anyone? |
