Andre “Bad Moon” Rison
Andre “Bad Moon” Rison, the soft-handed five-time NFL Pro Bowl receiver whose nickname references his off-the-field troubles, was arrested for public intoxication at a Riverwalk hotel early Monday morning, authorities said.
Rison, 41, who scored touchdowns with seven NFL teams and won a Super Bowl ring with the Green Bay Packers in their glorious 1996 season, paid the $85 fine and eventually was released after his arrest at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, in the 100 block of East Pecan Street.
Police were called to the hotel by staff after employees said Rison and a friend made a scene in the hotel's lobby.
“He was being very rambunctious,” said Joyce Lyle-Freeman, a hotel spokeswoman, who said she was more of a NASCAR fan and initially had no idea about Rison's identity.
She said the manager on duty agreed that the pair could merely have been returned to their rooms if they promised good behavior but the police officer on the scene decided to arrest Rison, who holds football camps across the country, including in San Antonio.
Rison's run-ins with the law include time in jail for failure to pay child support. Most famously, his Atlanta-area mansion was burned down in 1994 by the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, the TLC star whom he had been dating and who claimed she was merely trying to “barbecue” his tennis shoes.
