Major League Baseball suspended five players, two managers and fined four others for their participation in the Los Angeles Dodgers-Arizona Diamondbacks brawl on Tuesday night.
Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire also received a two-game suspension for his conduct during the incident.
Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy set off a benches-clearing brawl during the 5-3 loss after he hit Dodgers right-fielder Yasiel Puig in the face in the sixth inning.
That came on a 1-2 count with one out and the bases empty and Arizona leading 2-0. Puig stayed in the game and then Andre Ethier followed with a game-tying home run.
Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero was hit between the numbers by a Zack Greinke fastball on a 2-1 count. That resulted in the benches clearing but no actual fighting.
