george hill looked a lot better on the offense. solid defense, but not quite as good as last night (5 steals is pretty hard to top). i'm just hoping roger mason is a helluva lot better if he going to be our manu relief for some games, otherwise it's going to be a LONG season.

Spurs still lost but it was close game and Pop got to experiment as he is supposed to..
Not as bad as I guessed for a 1st back to back game..
I don't know about you guys but I Can't wait for the regular season games, this off season had been ssssooooooooo LONG...
And the fakers had left a very sour and stinking taste in our mouth we need the Spurs to erase that this year, the year of the Spurs big chanse to their 5th Championship.

Yawns......and my butt is sore. Guess who bought the beer? Me. If you fall on the ice and get seen your buying regardless if your drinking. Dangit dangit dangit, I never fall. As for the game I only look a few players, Hill and Tolliver. There isnt many spots left open once the real games begin, and they both played the butts off. Oh and Roger well he is what I expected not much.(only hopes) What do you expect when your the 4th guy on the spurs hit and miss list of FA's. Grabbing Cory woulda been like the rockets grabbing ron. Tolliver got the ok from Pop like Horry used to get. Go in and shoot the ball. Only tolliver made more shots then horry. He played great under the paint and isnt scared like some of the players we have on our roster who play his position. But it wasnt our spurs who looked as good as NO. CP3 is gonna smoke alot of players this season. Those alley-oops get our crowd into the game. For me personally it was catching up with friends I hadnt seen all summer long. I couldnt believe how pop has changed. And not his grooming techniques. Then again its still preseason, and Ill add when Manu comes back and the expectations are higher we'll see if pop can keep his cool. And I dont recall any T's being handed out. My personal disappointment was Roger. Biggest surprise Farmer. I also hope we dont get those single digits quarter scorings like we had so many of last season. Those are the quarters that make me go visit the snack stands. Those are the quarters the fans find their ways to the bathrooms as well. Rest time............................
Tolliver did have an amazing summer in the summer league play. I believe he shot over 50% from 3 point range in Vegas while still playing fairly well inside.

It was good to watch the new guys trying to earn a spot. I thought Tolliver was pretty good, he is a longer Malik Rose type player with 3 pt range. George Hill looks like TP9 in his sophomore year.
Watching Hill play against CP3 was interesting, Spurs fans are going to like what this guy has to offer. I say J. Vaughn may be waived by Christmas Eve. Much love to Manu getting most of the cheers last night sitting in street clothes behind the bench.
SIDE NOTE: Game experience was missing a familiar voice, that being Stan Kelly, now our team PA announcer will sound like the rest of the NBA teams (Dallas in particular) I was waiting for the Drum sets to be displayed near the FAN Fiesta section, but maybe that will rollout in the regular season.
1. George Hill-- he showed flashes of brilliance. His poor shooting in the summer league was clearly a fluke. He can stroke it from 3. He needs time to set, though. His length as a defender is really a weapon. He did things to Chris Paul that only Bruce could do defensively. His passing needs some work, but that's just getting up to NBA speed. His lateral quickness is suspect, but he makes up for it with length. He hustles. He will not back down from anyone-- on one play he mixed it up with David West. His dribbling may be an issue moving forward because, with his long wingspan, he has a tendency to let the ball get away from his body where he can protect it. The backup job is his IMO.
2. Roger Mason-- He can stroke it. If you don't think so, just ask him. We are used to guys on the other team being able to take and hit bad shots. Roger Mason is now that guy for us. He is just as comfortable bringing the ball up as Hill, so in my mind JV is expendable, because we have TP/Hill/Mason all as point guards. That gives the offense a great look with the two of them out there because you don't know who's going to bring the ball up at any given time. Roger Mason can create and get to the rim, but he can't finish.
3. Malik Hairston-- looks like Donovan McNabb. Reminds me of an old Michael Finley who doesn't hustle and only occasionally gets a clue.
4. Charles Gaines-- only there because of the injuries to Kurt Thomas and Ian Mahinmi. Good solid hustle, can't finish (except for that game-ending slam).
5. Devin Green and Desmon Farmer-- to be honest, from my nosebleed seats, half the time I couldn't tell who was who. They each made some good plays and some boneheaded ones. I don't think either is ready for prime time.
6. TP looked tanned, rested, and ready.
7. James Posey will be a weapon. But then again, the Hornets played their starters/rotation players against our scrubs. I don't think he'll be the force he was last year in Boston.
8. Tolliver is a solid rebounder and good shooter. He is what Bonner was supposed to be, without the white pastiness. Get comfy in your warmups, Matt.
9. Matt Bonner sucks. He can't shoot. He fouls too much. He looked as lost or more than anyone out there. You could tell from the frustrated look on his face that he knew he was auditioning for rotation minutes and blowing it.
10. Timmy was just coasting, until Hilton Armstrong pissed him off.
11. Bruce was coasting.
12. Finley looks a little better than last year, mobility-wise. We'll see.
