phil says "refs are taking away teams defensive intensity"

join the club a$$hole.

In one press conference you have proven the league is a farce.

If jackson thinks the refs can take away their "defensive intensity" he's WELL aware when they are taking away the oppositons "defensive intensity".

this guy is a joke......he in essence told the world he uses and needs help from refs so his team can win........

I think we knew that all along.

BIG FAT JOKE.

I wouldn't be surprised that Phil's word will have an effect tonight, the longer these series goes the better for the NBA plus imagine if the Lakers come back from a 3-1 deficit, it has never been done before...

Here that idiot goes again as usual.... Nothing new, he can't win outright so he goes to this.

what is really strange is that you here laker fans talking conspiracy and what not and it sounds really lame coming from them. what is happening is that the league was outed last series somewhat by "legs" and now they are just calling it like they are really seeing it. the lakers are just not getting away with what they were in prior series and they are pissed about it.

I have gotten really good at predicting refs in these games. I believe tonight will be garretson. I don't know about him? we have won and lost with him in the line up. today though the guys working with him won't be th usual suspects they will be the refs you don't notice. I think this sereis is over tonight.

Link?

Phil Jackson doesn't practice defense, and with Malone hurt, Payton old and Fox slowed, he doesn't have great defenders except Kobe and Shaq. They can raise their intensity all they want, but they don't have the SKILL to defend. Why shouldn't Devean George get in foul trouble? Why shouldn't Derek Fisher have trouble stealing the ball from Billups? Why shouldn't the Palace guards be able to foray to the hoop?

either way it's a conspiracy.

even if "it" was turned off and it continues to be a conspiracy because the cover-up must continue.

I'll like to know the amount of hush money that has to be paid out to keep everyone involved quiet.

Geeza, just look at the refs a few years ago; caught by the IRS for trading in their first class airline tix for cash.
Those greedy guys are either not being paid enough by Stern or they would gladly sell out Stern for a large book deal.

man, I wish I could get in on this.

I sat there and thought you just gave a reason why the league was rigged. Think about it Hue Hollins two weeks ago came out and said starts get preferential treatment, meaing that are not gonna calla ticky -tack foul for a sixth foul. There ya go Al, the reason the Lakers still won was because Eddie Rush went over to the scorer's table to ask how many fouls Shaq had so that a ticky-tack foul wouldn't be called and Shaq could stay in the game, but your right Al there is no conspiracy you Laker Lover
wasnt that incident alredy cleared?? there was a misteke from the table, thats why the ref asked for shaq's fouls...

seems some of you just want to hear what you want to hear

funny, I forgot about this but I wrote the following a year ago after the Lakers tied the SA/LA series at 2:

Did the Lakers get help in beating the Spurs over the last two games?

Many fans believe they did. Help that came in the form of NBA referees. Help, they believe, that came because of a NBA conspiracy to get the Lakers to yet another NBA Finals.

NBA conspiracy? A conspiracy between David Stern, referees and other league officials?

You're kidding me, right?

You mean those rumors that the smoking-man character in the X-Files television series was based on David Stern's secret government career are true also?

Okay, I made that up but just how far are fans willing to take this?

I can understand how Spurs fans feel after the last two games. The refereeing did appear to favor the Lakers, just as it appeared to favor the Spurs in the first two games. But is it because of a conspiracy or more a matter of bad officiating?

Make-up calls, rookie calls, superstar calls and home-cooking calls have been a part of the NBA for as long as I can remember. No NBA official will admit to this - publicly anyway - but those type calls do exist. Now, add to that, the appearance that NBA referees - on a sub-conscious level - favor the Los Angeles Lakers and I can see how fans can get these conspiracy ideas in their head.

Now, when you consider that NBA officiating has become increasingly worse over the past five years or so, then one can say that the NBA has a public relations nightmare on their hands. For while the conspiracy theory may not be true, the NBA's constant denial that the rest of what I described does not exist, plants the seed of doubt in many people's minds.

"If they're covering that up," a friend of mine told me yesterday, "what else could they be hiding?"

Well, I seriously doubt they're hiding some major conspiracy to get the Lakers to the Finals.
I think it might be easier to keep the secret that aliens from another world landed on the White House lawn than hide that the NBA league office has conspired with referees to keep the Lakers winning.

Think about it. It would take just one disgruntled referee or NBA employee looking for a big payday to bring the NBA down. Spilling the beans on this conspiracy would make for a best selling book and then there is the talk show circuit and the made-for-TV movie rights.

Oh, and let's not forget about the bookmakers, I'm sure they wouldn't take kindly to the NBA fixing games.

No, I don't think there is a conspiracy.

But is there bad officiating?

Yes.

Are there high hopes from the league office and ABC Television that the Lakers can take the series to a seventh game and then ultimately the Finals?

Yes.

Is there big money involved in all this?

Of course, but no conspiracy.

Now, I could be wrong and we may never know the answer.

But one thing is for certain and as FBI agent Fox Mulder would tell us.

The Truth Is Out There.
