Funny how this guy has been around 8 forgetable seasons on some pretty mediocre teams, the minute he wins a title he has an over inflated opinion of himself...typical.
That's what you're meant to think. He's a top athlete, who has confidence. You kind of have to have that. Then in his top 5 players, he says the Celts team. Anything he'd said, would have been enough to ruffle feathers. What, No Tim? No LeBron? No Kobe?
I've got no problems with this.

Paul Pierce might not be the best player in the world, but what surprises me is that he speaks Spanish!
He is hardly the best player in the world, but I love the ups he gives to Gino in this one, the best foreign player EVER!!!!!!!! I don't hate Paul for saying he is the best, he is supposed to feel that way right now believe it or not. He is a great player, but not near the best out there.
Give Bron his cast or Kobe they are easily better, hell GIVE TIM Ray Allen and Garnett and he is better than Pierce no doubt.

I definitely disagree. The reason the Celtics won the championship is because they played some crazy good defense. Pierce was great, but you cant compare him going up Lebron and Kobe this year offensively. Lebron and Kobe had to play against the best defensive team in the NBA Pierce didnt especially when he played the Lakers.
Pierce isnt top 5 in the league if I even put him in the top 10. His defense is overrated also. I remember he was talking up his own defense the whole playoffs. Dont get me wrong he played great we all saw it, but its was the Celtics team D that won the title not Pierce shutting players down. Lebron and Kobe were pretty much zoned all game so they had multiple players on them not just pierce acting like hes some sort of stopper. He wasnt a stopper before this great defensive team was constructed. And say what you want about Kobe, but he has won all first defensive teams without ever having a defensive team like the Celtics and KG on his team. Kobe is a overrated defender, but better then Pierce imo. Lebron is a all round beast.
And everyone knows Kobe is conceited, but funny Pierce calls him that then crowns himself the best player in the NBA while saying he isnt conceited. He is saying hes better then everyone in the world when hes not the best player on his team and then he trashes a player personally to try to elevate himself to a level he wishes he was on. Pierce gets to shine as the scorer, but KG is the heart of that team Celtics were the at the bottom of the league before KG arrived. Not that much different from Shaq and Kobe. Kobe got alot of shine as the high scorer, but Shaq was the heart of those championship teams. Pierce definitely has that Kobe type arrogance, but KG doesnt have that Shaq type arrogance as he doesnt care if his teammate says hes better so theres only one arrogant player with this pairing so no drama as Pierce is allowed to be the "man" by KG as he could care less as long as they win.

barkley said the same thing about jordan many years ago when phoenix and chicago played each other in the finals... and they were friends. well, it was more that barkley refused to admit jordan was better than him.
but it's an 'ego' thing more than anything else. pierce isn't the best player in the league... one of the best, but not THE best. I wouldn't even put him in the top five.
That sure sounds like an ego trip to me. He is conceited. He better enjoy it now because someone can easily take that trophy from him next year. All it takes is an ankle injury.

Even though I don't like Kobe, I still think he's the better player. Kobe has more rings too. I hated saying this.
bet if you ask any of the 5-10 guys in the league known for creating shots in crunch time if they think theyre the best player in the world, 100% of them will say yes. You know Manu thinks hes the best. The only part that surprises me is that he said that Kobe is definitely not the best, I mean, lets be real here. Its not like you can really know whos the best anyway, so why even sound all douche like that for no reason?
