Chris "The Birdman" Andersen will return to the Denver Nuggets next season. He agreed to sign a one-year contract with the team, multiple sources said Wednesday.
Andersen will make a league minimum $998,000 next season.
Great news. I like this kid. He's a little crazy, but has a big heart.
If you guys have a chance to read the espn.com article on Anderson recently, please do. Sorry, I don't have a link, but it's well worth a read when you have time.

I thought it was a nice article, too. I'm rooting for the kid but this just shows how desperate the Nuggets are. The loss of Camby is gonna be a huge blow for them. I wonder if they tried to trade anybody else before deciding to shed his salary.

Probably Martin, since he makes even more money per year and is less valuable to the team. However, his injuries just scare everyone away. So does Nene's probably.
If he can return to anywhere near the level he was playing before he will be a steal at the vet minimum. While I've always thought the Nuggets were pretty clueless when it came to contract negotiations this appears to be a good risk/reward move on their part.
IMO, the Birdman is basically Anderson Varejao, high energy, not great skills, but athletic, and occasionally makes questionable basketball decisions. I think it is a positive deal for Denver though.
I wonder if the Nuggets tried to get Elson to come back, or if maybe Elson is on the Spurs' radar.
