“When nothing seems to help, I go look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all that had gone before.” — Jacob Riis
you know what? I figured out what this ad is all about.
It's about :Anything is Possible. LOL. Sad and pathetic version of course. LOL

Viví Manu ( Live like Manu) you have that real nice guy who makes all the good things a boy scout would do.
Juga Ginobili ( Play like Ginobili) - I don't have to explain this one, right?
Very good ad if you ask me.
OK...i don't want to insult you or anything. But it is not a good Ad for my standard. Maybe Argentinians would get what it means..but not many outsiders though IMO.

It's the song, it's about a guy who is looking for a building to jump off and commit suicide, I love the song but it's sad and tragic and doesn't fit with the message which I think is about living life to its fullest on and off the court. If you don't know the song and just go with the alone again naturally it's pretty awesome, but this is one of those songs that actually makes me cry it's so damn sad.

People here speak Spanish, actually I didn't take the time to hear the lyrics myself, so the song could be in klingon and it would be the same for 90% of the common Argentine guy

I am not in the advertisement industry, and I am also not a critic.
But the fact is that you didn't get it at first, I don't know why.
I got it the first time I watched it, You could be Mr Nice Guy at your life and a slasher when playing or better, you should be Mr Nice guy in everyday live and have no mercy in the ball court.
Anyway as you said is not for outsiders.
What kind of advertisement do you think is good for your standards?

Well. I guess I just looked at it from a different angle. No need to take it so seriously IMO. Maybe it is just me, you know, who didn't get it.
But...as to my standard for the good ad?
I thought it looked kind of silly the way this video tried to paint Manu as the nice guy in the first half. You know what I mean?
Presentation was not so good that I found Manu being painted kind of silly (as a humor or something, or so I thought) than him being painted as a really sincerely nice guy as he is.. That's all. LOL.

I am not taking seriously I think that this is very interesting to discuss.
We are watching the same thing and seeing different things.
There is a cultural background that put the things we see in context.
So I think is very interesting.
I usually found the American ads to be too direct. Here the advertising's are done usually by movie directors, producers and writers, and created by multinational companies.
I think that the message in this ad is pretty clear, aside for the bad choice in the song lyrics.
They picture him as all of us see him, a humble guy, the son every mother wants, the husband every woman wants, the son in law every father wants, and a model citizen, in a country that lacks of a lot of the goods things the Ad show. At the same time, the humble nice perfect citizen is a Sport God, a winner among the winners in the world.
