GET RID OF POP!!

I am tired of this old man being sooo stubborn and using a 7 man rotation! When you have 4 other players that can make something happen! He changed the line up 6 times in the 4th quarter, when Manu was playing great. He yanks him out!?!
IF IT AIN'T BROKEN, DON'T TRY FIXING IT!!! SHYT!!
Pop has so much talent he doesn't see it!

While I certainly am not ready to "get rid of Pop" I have been frustrated by the way the team is being managed this season so far. I do not see how they are going to get the necessary team chemistry when played in this manner.

Why would the Spurs ever dream of getting rid of Pop when he has won 4 championships? It's not Pop, it's the players. They just aren't good enough right now.

The last play Pop drew up was GENIUS. It's not on Pop.

And that fact that you called him "old man" shows your lack of class and respect.

Boy, everyday in here I just get more depressed reading about RJ being bad and get Rid of Pop etc., things that are not going to happen and we just have to deal with it.

I hope this team can turn it around and wouldn't want anyone but Pop coaching this team (PJ wouldn't hurt being back though lol), thats what we have and we have to roll with it.

^^ This. Pop sees them out there missing assignments and so on and yells at them, it's not his fault they just suck on D right now and do stupid turnovers in key parts of the game. Pop is trying with this loaded team to figure out mins and who to play etc., it has to be a VERY stressful job with this team and all the new faces.

I would not want to be in his shoes right now, although I think he and they will figure it out and make a run eventually it has to be stressful right now for him.

although i think vintage Pop is good, the Pop right now isn't close to good. if you saw last night, why go small ball when they got Aldridge in there (who started killing us on dunks and rebounds)? he hasn't managed the team well, he's trying lineups but not considering who they are going against

That's probably because he is looking at the big picture and figuring out what lineups work best and is more concerned with that than winning a certain game right now.

I'm sure he's considering who they are against. I too don't like small ball that much. It works some times but I hate it in crunch time and having to see Timmy trying to control the paint on his own.

I'm with you Nate, I'm nowhere near the point of calling for the man's head. But our struggles this year are as much his fault as the team's. Pop has continued to jack around with our rotations to the point that, nearly 60% through the season players still don't understand their place on the team. Mason, Blair, Hill, Dyess, Ratliff and Bonner can't possibly know exactly how they fit into the rotation at this point. Each one could play more than 30 minutes a night at this point, but each one could play 0 to 8 minutes the next night. Hill is getting the minutes lately, but there was a stretch earlier where he was just tossed to the curb.

Pop, PICK SOMETHING!!! There is so much talent on this team, set a rotation and start beating defense into them.

POP doesn't shoot the ball , POP doesn't rebound, POP doesn't play defense, We all know that the players do , BUT POP was the guy who brought theses players in so yes he is responsible, I say we give POP one more playoff run , but that is it, after that HEADS should roll.

While i agree with you, in a game where the Spurs were scoring mainly because of manu in the 4th, taking him away to rest for that long period was a bad move and we al knew that Manu would enter the game with a 2 point lead and not 10 as he left. Plus, once manu went back in we stopped running plays for him aside from the 3 which is not his best aspect.

Did you see the post about what the GMs think??? Pop is a HOF coach...What are your credentials??? Everyone I've ever heard thats in the NBA acknowledges that he is one of the top (can I use the word so many bandwagoners in here like)ELITE coaches in this league...This city should be thanking the Lord that we have a person of Coach Pops quality running our team....

That's fine questioning his coaching? But even if you want him gone, who do you replace him with?

There aren't many out there better than Pop. I'd argue, only Phil Jackson being better and Larry Brown coming in shortly after. Both have jobs right now.

Unless the fire pop proponents can come up with a better option who would have the support of the club and players then it means nothing to me.

He sees the training runs, he knows where the players are at, he knows the playbook that has won 4 trophys.... I would trust his judgement on what rotation to run with far above most alternatives, especially an alternative who watchs the coverage provided to them or the stats that tell only part of it.

I am not just sitting back and saying never, just we need a better option before we let go of a proven one.

Forget all the Pop this and Pop that! Who do you propose to take his place that would be an improvement? Not to mention working with the talent and so on in place, how would it work to be an improvement?

Didnt we just have a thread recently where Pop was voted best coach at the end of a game?

Seriously, fire Pop and hire who? What coach of his caliber is looking for a job right now?

I like Pop. I particularly like that he's giving so much rope to Hill and Blair. Shows that once he feels like he has something he'll nurture it- just like TP and Manu.

Wait! He could have nurtured Beno and then SA could have enjoyed his MLE success.

Beno was absolutely the key to our success for a long time, alas his time had come to an end.
