Horry also had a tough first year, so did Barry and Finley had some of his struggles too in his first year.

Oooooh it feels good to be proven right! Like ive posted on many other posts before this, in fact if im not mistaken i was first one to post that RJ in SA is a complete failure! I recognized it 12 games into the season! I had to listen to everyone say that I was a horrible Spurs fan since i was bashing him and that I was ridiculous to expect so much so early into the season, that I was panicking, give him time, etc.. So I have some crow for you folks who bashed me. I like everyone else thought he would be great in silver and black but its just not gonna happen. RJ about cried on the court in the game against Portland when Pop was yelling at him. RJ is now the Charmin poster boy cuz hes oh so soft. Pop is part of the RJ problem also. He has clearly hit the coaching wall with RJ. Odom was like RJ until P Jackson coached him into a mentally stronger player. We as fans cant be blamed for thinkin this would work but RC and Pop can. For as many great moves they have made, the RJ trade could be the worse in franchise history. It may be the move that signals the transition from contenders into has beens. How could they not have seen this coming? We can trade for Rj who makes 14-15 mili a season yet we couldnt keep Scola, or convince Splitter to sign? I can see us battling for the 8th seed or not even making the playoffs due to the amount of road games in the second half of the season. D Ferry, S Kerr, S Presti please help us!

At this point, I'm less worried that RJ can fit, and more worried that he's lost hope of ever fitting. Seriously, he looks depressed out there. It's not like he's playing his game but just not jelling. He doesn't know what to do with himself. |

This guy actually looks like the perfect Clipper or Knick player.

Start Ginobili or Tank 2010! RJ needs to ride the pine, I don't care how much he's paid.

Fitting or feeling comfortable is tough some times, especially to players who really want to contribute and do their part within the system. RJ truly seems to be that kind of player. I would not call him a complete failure nor would I say the experiment is a bust, yet. I did have some doubts bout how or where he would fit into things the scheme of things with the Spurs. It is the opposite of forcing a player to be a go to guy when he is suited to be a support type player, RJ may need more touches and some extra plays run, if so he is the wrong player in the wrong place. As many have pointed out, the second year is usually the telling one for many like him. Hopefully they can all make something out of the remainder of the season. To me most of the offensive problems are those having to do with confidence and rythm. Defensively, I think it may well be communication and still having to think rather than react for the whole team as a unit or confidence their team mates will be in the right place. |
