Two Lakers Stars Busted for Traveling Violations

Two Lakers Stars Busted for Traveling Violations
Posted Nov 25th 2009 12:35AM by TMZ Staff

The Los Angeles Lakers seem to be having trouble on the road. Two of the team's stars were nailed on one of L.A.'s most famous freeways recently for breaking some driving laws.

TMZ has learned Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum were each pulled over on the 405 freeway in the last few days.

Odom was popped for speeding -- law enforcement sources tell us he was going more than 80 miles per hour.

Bynum was busted for shadier circumstances -- cops say he had illegally tinted windows on his Mercedes Benz.

Fun Fact: In the State of California, it's illegal to have ANY aftermarket tinting applied to the front driver's side and passenger windows in your car ... who knew?!

It's true about the window tinting. I think the law was changes years ago. A cop pulled someone over for a routine traffic violation. The car had deep tinted front seat windows so the officer couldn't see inside, and the suspect pulled a gun and shot the officer. So now in CA you can't have tint on the front windows.

Also, 80mph on the 405?!? Did the CHP stop him for driving too SLOW?? I've had cops zoom by & old ladies give me the finger for 'only' driving 80mph on the 405 :o)

Yeah, we've had the tinted window law for a long time now. If you tint it a little bit it's still illegal but most police officers won't really notice it. If it's obvious then you will definitely get pulled over.

As far as Odom goes, people go over 80 all the time in Los Angeles. He must have been going at least 90s (in no traffic) or over 80s when the rest are stuck in normal 40mph (or less) traffic.

Every state has tinted window laws. Most seem to allow a low level of tint. 35% still allows someone to see inside a car. If a car has tinted windows why can't the officer get on his police car siren speaker and tell them to roll the windows down before he approaches the car instead of penalizing millions of people? I guess they want the money from the tinted window tickets.
