This is my opinion. Tim = A+ What else can you say about the 2 time MVP. A+ Manu = A+ no fear, a little reckless but great energy. Memo to Pop let this guy go and you'll begin the end of your reign here. Maybe in this series it finally caught up to us by bringing him off the bench. So much for confidence building. Tony = Drive drive drive, great 1+2 games, A+. I saw him get knocked down a few times in the 3rd and 4th games doesn't get any respect from the refs Has to learn that the outside game is predicated on the inside game. Game 5 was looking to pass to outside shooters passed up some good looks while driving in. Games 3, 4, 5, 6, C-. What happened. Rasho = A, what else can you do against fatass. Gave us #'s similar to Dave. I would love to see him be more aggresive on offense similar to Brad Miller but it isn't happening. Maybe we can fanagle Okafor Devin = A+, What a surprise San Antonio is very proud of you!!! Bruce = B, What happened to the 3's this year? When I heard him talk to Jim Rome after the Defensive Player of the Year was awarded to Artest, I knew we were in trouble. Jim asked him if he thought he should have won,and Bruce said yes. Honestly I thought Bruce would have shrugged it off and and aspired instead to another World championship. But no he said winning that award was a goal of his. There's nothing wrong with that but aren't you losing the forest for the trees? Hedo = C, Work on the 3's this off season. I have a feeling he'll be elsewhere though, good luck! Horry = D-, Make that layup in game 5 and were talking extension. At 5 million a year I don't want to hear some sap-ass story of how it's hard playing against friends ,. This x-factor lost us the series K Will = A, you gave what you had, God Bless You!! Jason Hart = A would love to see you back! Malik = N/A, Reminds me of the saying "you gotta dance with who brung ya" He's not the perfect matchup vs. Shaq. But as I recall he did help us win 2 championships right? And we did beat L.A. twice on the way there right? Pop = B, I think your a Great coach but a little too stubborn or maybe too paranoid(see Malik). Malik's not out to get you. You got to figure out before game 5 if someones not giving there all(see Horry). |

I'm not going to grade anyone but props to you gonzo7 for recognizing that the Spurs gave us a thrilling season. I am proud to be a Spurs fan and confident that this transition year will lead to spectacular seasons to come. |

Tim = A- Played great for the most part but disappeared in games 3 and 4 for long stretches. Manu = A- Played very well for the most part, but we could have used some shots from him tonight. Tony = B was the key reason we won the first 2, and may be the key reason we lost the last 4. Rasho = B ehh, I dont know, he was just kind of... there Devin = A was a big surprise, but got OWNED by Kobe in game 4. Bruce = D did he even play? Hedo = C, Too soft and too streaky. Horry = F his purpose on the team is..? K Will = A he gave it everything in the tank Jason Hart = N/A really didn't play enough for me to evaluate. Malik = B should have played more, when he got in tonight he grabbed some key boards. Pop = B, I agree with the first posters evaluation.

Tim B+ A leader has to lead. he looked way too tentative way too often. Manu and Devin A+ At least SOMEBODY showed up for all six games. Parker B+ Some great signs early, but he needed to hit the jumpers once the Lakers clogged the lanes. Horry F. Was brought here to do ONE THING and he didn't do it. Don't tell me how hard it is to play against your friends. Hedo D Where were you? Rasho B Played Snaq better than I expected. Couldn't hit the jump shot that would have opened things up. Bruce B Kobe did alot of damage and BB couldn't return fire with his own jump shots. KWillis A (I wouldn't want him mad at me, would you???) Malik INC We may never know what happened to Malik this season. If this is his last year here, then Godspeed. JHart B+ You belong in the league, young man. I wish you had a bit more skill. Ward I'd give him an F if I thought he was still on the team. Maybe Matt Carroll could have hit some jumpers.... |

Tim B Lacked aggressiveness for long stretches during games Manu B Good energy - too many out of control plays Devin A What a suprise Parker A+ (in the first two games) C (in games 3-6) Horry C Good energy and defense, couldn't hit crucial threes Hedo D A bust in these playoffs Rasho C For a starting center he just didn't do enough Bruce C His lack of offensive production really hurt KWillis Not enough minutes for a grade Malik Not enough minutes for a grade JHart Not enough minutes for a grade ------------------------ Pop C Slow to make adjustments as the third quarters showed Last edited by maldoror; 05-16-04 at 04:02 AM. |

Tim= A (Could have done a better job in being more consistent in being more aggressive on the offensive end. I can understand why he wasn't though since he had NO help and the defense just collapsed on him everytime. He also needed to be much more vocal in getting his team into the games instead of quietly doing his own thing) Tony=C (Definitely fizzled out and showed no heart. After games 1 and 2, he sulked around, wasn't as aggressive, and just didn't do the little the things to help his team when his shot wasn't there. I think its due to his age, but he needs to realize a PG does more things then just score) Bruce=D (If he had made an occasional three or scored a little bit, he would have gotten a higher grade. But with Kobe going off and him being non-exhistent after the first two games, Bowen definitely was dissappointing which was evident in Pop benching him. Hedo=F (Same as Bowen except he should have been benched. He also gets into the habit of sulking and becoming invisible on the court. We will see what happens and where he ends up next year with his inconsistencies.) Rasho=D- (At least, he had occasional boards, blocks, and all his six fouls, but thats about it. Rasho is so timid, you wonder if he will ever come out of his shell. Maybe he needs to go to counseling after playing with Garnett and his shouting at him so much. Dude, needs to be aggressive on both ends and earn his keep...NOW) Manu=B+ (He tried his hardest in all areas even though he didn't always make the best decisions. He could have been better, but he didn't have much help.) Devin=B+ (Same as Manu, but he came out of no where. Great surprise!) Horry=D (Too inconsistent and invisible at times. He is showing his age. I doubt he will be back next year.) |

Brown A+ Manu A Tim A- (he was too tentative for long periods and let Malone get away with stuff he knew he would do?? pull the chair, slap at the ball etc.) Rasho - B (played as expected) Bowen - C (under achieved on both ends) Hedo - C- (onlything that saves him from an F is his rebounding and D - but he is too soft) Tony - C (won the 1st 2 games but basically played like a 21 year old after that - perhaps read too many clippings) Horry - D- kinda obvious Willis - B when he came it - that Dunbk he missed in game 3 was crucial at the time. Malik - C had a 1-7 game? When did he become the #1 option on the team? Ward and Hart - NA Pop gets a B, he seemed to pull the right levers perhasp should have started Manu in 2nd half of games 4 and 5. Those 3rd Quarters killed us and last nite with Manu strating were will better than those earlier ones. |

I think some of you are very generous with your grades. In my book to get an A, the player had to lift his game another notch from the regular season. Only Devin Brown gets an A. Manu and Tim played about the usual although I thought Tim dropped off a bit. Manu and Tim get a B. No need to name anyone else - they failed. There are no C's in basketball. Malik, Hart and Ward get incompletes. To paraphrase Rick Fox, you can't evaluate what you can't see. |

Grades for the playoff TD: A- He didn't do what he was capable of doing- playing MVP basketball. When he started defering to Devin Brown last night, I knew this season was over. He was too passive at times, tried to force things at others. I don't remember how many pocessions we lost by having the ball slapped out of his hands or him travelling on Malone's "Pull a chair". But said all this, he is still the best player on this team and without him, we'd be no where. Tony: B- He deserved A for his first two games and C for his last four. Rasho: B He didn't play beyond or under expectation Bowen: C What happened to the defensive specialist in this series? What happened to those 3s? Hedo: D He turned from Hedo into Hedon't. Brick, Brick, Brick, Rebound, Brick, Rebound, Brick, Brick Manu: B+ Gambled too much which lead to some defensive collaspe, but he at times, single- handedly tried to keep us in the game. Horry: D He's two bricks short from building a mansion with Hedo, but did all the small things well except for that one particular moment which stood out in the mind: Game 5, right before TD's mirable shot, with 11 seconds to go, Kobe has the ball. Horry just stood there, he didn't try to stop him, didn't even have a hand up, that just kills me Devin Brown: A Who'd have thought? Definitely one of the better surprise in the playoffs. Nobody else had consistent minutes for me to grade them.

I will probably write a column on what the Spurs do this summer later in the week. I'm going to wait to see if what I hear from the inside, if anything. More info. will come out as the draft nears, especially about possible trades. |

Tim= B Tony=B- Bruce=C+ Hedo=D- Rasho=D Manu=B+ Devin=A Horry=D- Rasho may have had Dave like numbers, but his play was not Dave like. He did not alter shots, he did not draw charges, Dave changed the game by his presence, Rasho's presence is hardly noticible. I don't dislike him, that is fact though, that is not the type of player he is, and to expect it is foolish.
