Spurs waive good-bye to Jerrells

Spurs waive good-bye to Jerrells
By Danny Davis | Thursday, October 22, 2009, 03:4o PM

Former Del Valle High and Baylor basketball star Curtis Jerrells was waived by the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, two days after playing in an exhibition game at the Erwin Center.

Jerrells, a four-year starter at Baylor whose jersey is retired at Del Valle, appeared in five preseason games for San Antonio and averaged 3.6 points and 1.8 assists per contest. In his Central Texas homecoming on Tuesday, Jerrells played nearly 10 minutes but did not score in San Antonio’s 113-96 win over Oklahoma City.

Hopefully he'll get to stay in Austin for a while and come back as our 3rd PG. But he's not ready for the NBA yet.

Hopefully he enjoyed his experience with the Spurs and will stay in their system. Might become useful in that role since Williams is likely on his way out (unless the Spurs pull him in next offseason (if he doesn't have a home).
