FRA - Parker to sit out Hungary game

PARIS (EuroBasket 2009) - France will hold Tony Parker out of their warm-up game against Hungary on Thursday as a precaution after he sprained his right ankle at the weekend.

The injury to the San Antonio Spurs guard, sustained in an accidental clash with an Austria player during the opening game of the Strasbourg tournament, is not considered serious and Parker is due back in training this week.

However, with a little over a week until France's first game of the EuroBasket Additional Qualifying Round against Italy, France will take no chances with their star player.

Meanwhile, Joakim Noah is expected to arrive back in the United States on Wednesday after leaving the team's training camp, but France have not yet given up hope of him receiving permission from the Chicago Bulls to play against Italy on August 5.

It's that simple.

Chicago has a vested interest in Noah and is protecting that interest.

Rightfully so...it's their money and fiscal obligation to their organization and fans.

I believe that's the way it should be. But of course, you also don't want to piss off your players either. Noah is simply a role player, if he gets ticked off, who cares. Tony and Manu on the either hand....
