Good. He can still go out and hit some dagger threes when we need them.

As expected. Not a bad player coming of the bench. If his shooting % goes downhill, the Spurs can always ship him off before the trade deadline for some cash or a small contract.

I think he will be better this season playing less minutes. He seemed to be a spark when he first got in the game but ailed off the more minutes he played. Overall depth on this year's team should be MUCH better with not as much of a production dropoff as last year.

I like Finley coming off the bench for some spot up shooting. I don't like him starting every night at SF or playing PF (oops I mean C, sorry Mr. Duncan) in the small ball lineup.

Finley HATES coming off the bench and he's been totally ineffective whenever he's had to....he is good trade bait....

i don't think that's ever been reported? i know he's been ineffective, but at this point in his career, he's not starting anywhere he goes. at $2.5 million or so, if he is traded, the Spurs won't be getting anything good back, unless you package him up with Bonner to get someone decent.

Actually Finley has stated on more than one occasion that he needs time to get into the flow and that's why he doesn't like coming off the bench, he doesn't feel he's effective...

I don't necessarily mind him starting-- but I don't want him playing big minutes. It all depends on who else ends up on the roster.

This is good for the Spurs that he is staying. I do like Fin, he was clutch during several games in the last years he was a Spur in the PO. I really like his passion to the game.

And if Spurs FO gave him that player option it was because they knew they could possibly shop him if he stayed and they needed to have a compliment on a trade deal, or they can just get some help from him every now and then.

Maybe Pop would start Fin at the 2 and Manu or Mason when Manu is injured are coming off the bench, who knows? But what I don't like to see Fin start at the 3, Thank God we have RJ at the 3 now.

He would have stayed even if he were with the Clippers. The main reason being that he wouldn't get 2.5 million from anyone else.

I still believe that people here think of Finley as what he was, not what he is. Take the emotion out of it and you see an older player who can be athletic for a couple of minutes a game, who averages about 9-10 points a game in an average of 26 minutes. He's a standstill spot up shooter who can no longer create his own shot and who clearly can't guard the younger wing players in the league. (Actually he never was much of a defender..but)

If Manu is healthy, if Mason and Hill continue to progress and if RJ plays like he can, there's a very, very good chance that Finley will languish at the end of the bench much like Bones did in his last year.

I'd be willing to wager that if this were a team option he'd be seeking employment elsewhere, and like Uwe said, the real reason he's coming back is there's absolutely no chance that he'd get close to 2.5 from anyone else...

Funny that's how I remember it to a degree or was it that Pop loved Manu more coming off for the spark. Either way, Fin gave Manu his due and kudos when he did displaced him as a a starter. I wouldn't call him ineffective but I remember his percentages going up after becoming a starter. And a consitant high percentage three pointer shooter is always a good thing. If Tim doesn't get some big help down low, then our TEAM 3 pt shooting has to be near league high this season. And he can be a selfless defensive player. We dominate when the threes fall and the defense is strong.

Still a a great Spur, a consumate veteran teammate and a very selfless gentleman. I hope he has a great final memorable season as a Spur or whatever happens.

He´s an expiring contract, so there´s chance we get something for him. Of course nothing too fancy
