I think he will be better this season playing less minutes. He seemed to be a spark when he first got in the game but ailed off the more minutes he played. Overall depth on this year's team should be MUCH better with not as much of a production dropoff as last year.

| i don't think that's ever been reported? i know he's been ineffective, but at this point in his career, he's not starting anywhere he goes. at $2.5 million or so, if he is traded, the Spurs won't be getting anything good back, unless you package him up with Bonner to get someone decent.

Actually Finley has stated on more than one occasion that he needs time to get into the flow and that's why he doesn't like coming off the bench, he doesn't feel he's effective...

This is good for the Spurs that he is staying. I do like Fin, he was clutch during several games in the last years he was a Spur in the PO. I really like his passion to the game. And if Spurs FO gave him that player option it was because they knew they could possibly shop him if he stayed and they needed to have a compliment on a trade deal, or they can just get some help from him every now and then. Maybe Pop would start Fin at the 2 and Manu or Mason when Manu is injured are coming off the bench, who knows? But what I don't like to see Fin start at the 3, Thank God we have RJ at the 3 now. |

I still believe that people here think of Finley as what he was, not what he is. Take the emotion out of it and you see an older player who can be athletic for a couple of minutes a game, who averages about 9-10 points a game in an average of 26 minutes. He's a standstill spot up shooter who can no longer create his own shot and who clearly can't guard the younger wing players in the league. (Actually he never was much of a defender..but) If Manu is healthy, if Mason and Hill continue to progress and if RJ plays like he can, there's a very, very good chance that Finley will languish at the end of the bench much like Bones did in his last year. I'd be willing to wager that if this were a team option he'd be seeking employment elsewhere, and like Uwe said, the real reason he's coming back is there's absolutely no chance that he'd get close to 2.5 from anyone else... |

Still a a great Spur, a consumate veteran teammate and a very selfless gentleman. I hope he has a great final memorable season as a Spur or whatever happens.

He´s an expiring contract, so there´s chance we get something for him. Of course nothing too fancy
