If they lose either they are obviously not as good as they were! Spurs are much improved to say the least. It was bound to happen.

Love it! But if the lakers get Odom or Ariza back, much less both, they will be very good again. Not to mention the fact that Denver could be very scary (or they could fall apart, depends on how magical Chauncey is), Portland is only getting better, Dallas and Houston will atleast be good, a healthy NO team can hang with the best of 'em, and OKC has a wealth of studly young talent.

The West is very deep, AGAIN. So we may be up there at the top with RJ and Blair, but this conference is going to be effin tough as nails again, no matter who we have. Come playoff time it will be a heck of a battle, but I think if everyone is healthy come May that we have a good shot at winning the West. Now the East has a couple of challenging foes that we'd get to meet in the finals. Who here is wishing it were April, 2010?

If football didn't exist, the next 10 months would be HELL!

Until we get a decent center I don't think any of the elite teams are that concerned with the Spurs at the point.

Please, that sissy doesn't scare us. You know the only reason Lakers won the 'ship is because of Kobe. No Kobe, no 'Ship.

After the Spurs did little to improve and react to that last year, yes it is.

It's hard to imagine the Spurs ownership, who have been so frugal until now, taking on a full MLE free agent after the Jefferson acquisition which will cost $14 and then $15 million the next two seasons. The MLE will cost the Spurs around $11 million a season due to luxury tax and Sheed has too much pride to accept a lower tier offer.

I'm also not sure Sheed is worth 11 million in salary payout at age 35. Now that they feel they got some rebounding with Blair I think it's more likely they sign another big with a portion of the MLE, rather than full MLE to a bigger name. You never know though. Ownership may throw caution to the wind and figure it's do or die now that the Duncan window is starting to close.

Blair may be great against some other teams, but the Lakers are very large and he's still a rookie. During the twin towers period, the Spurs were paying tax at some point. I think that the Spurs need 'Sheed, it's not that he will be paid $11M, but that amount will be added to the whole payrole, and probably compensated by a pair of championships, while Duncan and Manu are still in their prime.

Right, I understand it's $11 million in payout and that Sheed would only get half of it. But the Spurs have to look at it as if they are paying him 11 million and is he worth that kind of money at his age.

The Spurs will be way over their normal budget using the full MLE on one guy when they also have to sign other players too on top of what they are paying Jefferson. Sheed also doesn't seem like a Spurs guy to me either in terms of his attitude. I'll be very surprised so see him in a Spurs uniform.
