Tough one, but I think he felt comfortable here and the lure of a real honest to goodness championship opportunity might allow him to take a short term deal at a cut rate. (the economy may work in the team's favor for this.)

| Good point. I do think we have a better chance now that RJ came on board since other players like Wallace and McDyess will see that the Spurs are definitely contenders to win it all. |

i'm very curious about him. i'd love to get an upgrade w/ someone else, but i highly doubt we'll get on through free agency. maybe this trade actually gives incentive to gooden - oberto & thomas are now gone, which the front office could spin as them wanting to commit to him. of course, the way he was unfairly benched while matt freakin bonner was playing major minutes, i would've left if i was gooden.

He's likely gone. Spurs will probably try for some bigger names with that MLE up front. I can only hope they would at least try a little bit with Odom. Not only would it hurt the biggest threat, but they'd also gain a very versatile lineup. But hey, impossible is nothing...
