Because mainly Yao, has usually the same problem Tim Duncan does, all teams can punish them in the paint and the refs will call nothing.

I think is quite arguable that this doesn´t happen to garnet, gasol, aldrige, howard.

i do agree that yao has gotten really bad officiating against him. yao used to get called a TON while trying to set screens, but he does get shafted. but dwight howard also gets hacked a lot in the post without getting the calls. i feel howard, timmy, and yao are all in the same boat in that regard. tim, i feel it's been noticeable more recently, because in his prime he used to get the majority of calls. aldridge i haven't paid attention to but he tends to be more of a jumpshooter in games i've seen him play, but i know oden can't stay on the court cuz he keeps fouling (it's mainly his own fault).

i do think it's an overall theme though with big men, not just tim or yao. the league made a drastic change in the way the officiate games, where post play used to be encouraged in the past, and guys were allowed to bang - they might've commited offensive fouls in the process, but defenders were too proud to flop. more recently, defenders flop all the time, and offensive players can't bang as much anymore. on the flipside, they allow guys to slap at big men's hands a lot more, but i also think guys are complaining more now than ever before.

If Yao was playing for the current Lakers, Celtics or Cavs he would get favorable calls.

Good for the Rockets.
If they win the second game, it's over.

The Lakers are the better team. No matter who wins game 2 they will win the series. But if you want a lock, expect a game 2 Lakers win.
