Lewis Passes On Extension, Likely To Opt-Out

Lewis Passes On Extension, Likely To Opt-Out
25th February, 2007 - 5:42 pm
Tacoma News Tribune -
It seems likely that Rashard Lewis will not accept the extension and will choose to opt out of his contract on July 1 and become an unrestricted free agent, according to Lewis’ new agent, Tony Dutt.

“We’ll make a decision soon but we are leaning toward opting out,” said Dutt, whom Lewis hired over the All-Star break after parting ways with Kevin Poston.

Sonics general manager Rick Sund declined to address Lewis’s contract, saying, “I told Rashard from the beginning I would not discuss any negotiations I have had with him or his representatives.” [READ]

Would any team with championship aspirations sign Lewis?

He is soft as a marshmallow.

For a 6'10" guy he sure knows how to avoid rebounds.

Add the fact that you can always double-team him because he can't pass the ball well. Spurs have been double-teaming him in the post for the past 3 seasons and he still hasn't figured it out.

I think if the Cavs could get something done in a S&T then he would be great for their team. Finally give them another scorer besides Lebron.
