Wade Undergoes Battery Of Tests, Mulling Options
22nd February, 2007 - 6:54 pm
RealGM -
Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade suffered a dislocated left shoulder with 10:27 left in the fourth quarter of last night’s 112-102 loss at Houston. After the game he flew back to Miami on a private plane accompanied by Heat Athletic Trainer Ron Culp and met with Heat team physician Dr. Harlan Selesnick at Doctors Hospital where he underwent a battery of tests.

Given that the injury occurred less than 18 hours ago, Wade is presently weighing his treatment options provided to him by the Heat medical staff. Wade still needs to discuss these options with his family and Heat President and Head Coach Pat Riley and will then decide what course of action to take.

The Heat will have no further comment until a decision has been made as to what action will be taken. Additionally, the team and the Wade family request that the public respect his privacy as he weighs his options and decides what path to take. [READ]

Discuss his options? Sounds like surgery is on the table...

Wow if he has to have surgery the Heat could very well miss the playoffs.

he can either have surgery and miss the rest of the season, or rehab and risk re-injuring his shoulder again in 6 weeks. David Aldridge from NBA on TNT said he would pick surgery because it's not an injury that you can just rehab and it'll be better.

I love that one comercial that he's in.

"He's a large man, Dwyane"

"Do it again! Do it again!"

That commercial KICKS ASS! Funniest commercial I've ever seen.

But back on topic, this really sucks. He was the only reason I would have had any interest at all in the eastern conference playoffs.

Hm...should be interesting if they somehow end up with Oden or Durant from this year's draft...that'd be like us the year before Duncan...Robinson doesn't break that toe and no rings...wait a minute, did i just jinx them?

IMO, they'll make it but exit the first round.

True. My friend was one of the attending physicians at the hospital that Wade went to when he left the arena. He said Wade was really cool and gave his shoes to the xray technician. Unfortunately, a team official grabbed his jersey after the doctors had to cut it off. I guess they didn't want anybody selling it on ebay.

That was a neat thing to do. I don't like to see anyone be hurt, but D-Wade is especially troubling--he is a great star. Hopefully, his recovery will go well. Good luck, D.

Good luck D, and this sucks!!!!! I wanted them and Pistons in the offs again to meet, but I guess that is a HUGE question mark to a no now? Sucks out East, who is gonna rival D Town? Doubt anyone.

I hate seeing this happen to such a great star and all around nice fellow. If injury has to happen, why can't it fall on someone who has it coming? D Wade sure doesn't deserve it. Get well ASAP.

Raptors seem to be surging. Or is that a reach? Obviously Detroit is going to roll.
