http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/s...e=NBAHeadlines Magic small forward Hedo Turkoglu has a mystery illness and will miss the team's preseason opener Tuesday night. Turkoglu has experienced flu-like symptons, including violent chills, dating back to last year. He has suffered two bouts in training camp and will undergo tests to try to find the root of the problem. "I'm going to get some blood tests, and I have to rest three days and then get some urine tests," Turkoglu told reporters. "I'm just curious why it's happening." Turkoglu averaged a career-best 14.9 points and 2.8 assists in 78 games last season for the Magic in his second season in Orlando. Turkoglu also has played for Sacramento and San Antonio in his six-year career.

That 2004 Spurs team was one of the best in the history of the franchise, and then Hedo decided not to hit a shot (except the first quarter of game 4) when he was wide open vs LA... like he was still in shell-shock over blowing game 7 in 2002 or something.

I am not so sure that Hedo choked. He was going through a terrible month of shooting in April, and it just persisted till May. Peaked too early? If anyone choked it was all the other 3pt shooters - Bruce, Manu, Horry etc. Tony certainly couldn't handle having a clogged paint. TD couldn't break through decisively against Malone's grab-push-hold defense. If Orlando had come up with a slightly smaller contract or shorter years, I am not sure if the Spurs would have given up on Hedo. He's 6'10" ok athleticism, and would have been great as PF under smallball. |

Hedo was so wide open that entire series, and the fact that he could not hit a wide open shot is why the Lakers could put 4 people in the paint to stop Duncan and Parker. I'll give Bowen the benefit of the doubt, because he's a defensive player first, and a guy who can hit a wide-open three from one spot second. Turkoglu on the other hand was supposed to be a gifted offensive player with range, but he's also a fatass who isn't commited to winning and who gets scared anytime a game means something. Of course I'd take Hedo over HITA though... I'd take Samaki Walker over HITA. Steve Smith robbed the Spurs 10x as bad as anyone in the history of the franchise. At least Charles Smith had an excuse, and JJ got hot in a postseason and helped the Spurs win a title. |

Funny story about hedo: I worked at a yuppie bar where they like to hire attractive girls to be hosti (plural of hostess) and there was this one girl who was definately wicked hot and hedo asked her out. she told him no, and that she was only 17. he asked "when do you turn 18?" she said "next week." " well why dont we go out then?" and she just said "no, thats allright." ouch. serves him right.
