Rockets Acquire Snyder

Houston Chronicle - The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets traded Kirk Snyder to the Houston Rockets for future considerations.

The Rockets did not have to give up a player to add Snyder, sending cash and future draft considerations — likely no more than switching second-round draft positions — to the Hornets.

Wasn't this guy supposed to be really good coming out of UNR? Now he's on his third team in three years, and just got traded for "future considerations."

About the only way the Hornets could have valued him any less is if they had traded him for "past considerations," which was how Green Bay shipped Terrell Buckley to the Dolphins several years back.

I would still love to trade air for an athletic swingman, even with those odds

What? They can use cash to match the salary?

This could be a steal for Houston. He can play either guard position and they need some backcourt help, especially if Wesley signs on with another team, which he probally will.

I remember when he dunked on the Lakers Von Wafer. He actually jumps over him, and Von Wafer actually jumps!!

My Rockets are pulling a nice off season. They still have the full MLE and a 4.2M trade exception to spend. If we get Marcus Banks, John Lucas III, and a backup C/PF Lorenzen Wright (4.2 TE), Rockets will have a line up of

PG Alston/Banks/Lucas/Sura
SG T-Mac/Snyder/Head/Sura
SF Battier/T-Mac/Novak/Snyder
PF Howard/Battier/Hayes
C Yao/Wright/Mutumbo

This will be a team with size, athletism, versatility, and shooting. Plus we still have the two big guns in Yao and T-Mac.

The best three teams from the west will be all from Texas.

I hope that isnt Tony Battie as your back-up power forward, last time I checked, he's on the Magic.

Already annointing the Rockets as one of the top three teams in the West.

Banks for some of MLE. Wright for 4.2M TE.

Meant to say Shane Battier, not Tony Battie.

I think he meant Battier. I've seen some talk that the Rockets want to use him at PF some this season. I would say that using Battier at PF would be stupid, but then when your only front line backups are 6-5 chuck hayes and 82 year old dikembe mutombo you don't really have a choice.

Rockets can use a line up of Alston/Snyder/T-Mac/Battier/Yao against Parker/Manu/Finley/Bowen/Duncan. Basically 1 center plus 4 perimeter players.

Why is head buried so far on the depth chart?

And that team still sucks. You need a different starting PG and PF.
