Jarron Collins Stay in Utah

http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archiv...aying_in_utah/

Salt Lake Tribune - The Utah Jazz will retain center Jarron Collins, the Salt Lake Tribune is reporting.

The Jazz did not announce Collins' return, but it will become official in the next day or two, a source said.

A veteran center who was an unrestricted free agent, Collins averaged 5.3 points and 4.2 rebounds last season. Along with Rafael Araujo, he gives the Jazz experienced depth in their big-man rotation behind Mehmet Okur, Carlos Boozer and versatile Andrei Kirilenko.

"We definitely want him back and we're encouraged by the state of negotiations," Jazz owner Larry Miller said. "Jarron is very consistent, very steady.

Said coach Jerry Sloan: "He gives us stability. He's an executioner on offense - he knows what his assignment is - and he gives you all the effort in the world on defense. He won't quit."

Terms of Collins' new contract aren't known.

So if NY matches Butler possibly, not likely, Lorzen Wright maybe available.

When (not if) NY matches Butler, the Spurs will simply pocket the money.

So wait-- the Jazz signed both twins, Jerome and Jarron? Wow.

No worries, though, since I'm pretty sure the guy we were after is DeAngelo Collins, right?

I was just playin'. There was another thread on this topic where he was called Jerome.

Sometimes our tendency is to think that we could've had UFA's if we only went after them. Jarron's been in Utah his entire career (I think). What reason do we have to believe that he wanted to come here? I mean, we didn't "lose out" unless we were seriously considered. Kind of like how I never think about my high school prom experience as "losing out." Nevermind.
