Hawks Free To Sign Players

AJC.com - A Maryland court this afternoon lifted the ban that it last week placed on the Hawks and Thrashers signing players to multi-year contracts.

The new order states that the Hawks can trade for players who have no more than 4 years remaining on their contract. The same goes for free agent signings.

Any transactions that go beyond the new conditions – i.e., exceed the salary cap or result in the acquisition of contracts longer than four years – would require unanimous consent of the Atlanta Spirit board of managers. Essentially, that means Belkin would have to agree with the other owners to make such transactions.

Troy Murphy has 5 years left, so he can't end up in Atlanta in any Harrington trade scenario.

I bet David Stern was on the horn frying some ears with sailor's curses until the judge changed his orders.

Actually, I heard it was Billy Hunter and the union doing that since the league was slow to move.

Ah. Makes sense. Either case, when the NBA flexes its muscles, the law takes a holiday.

My understanding is that the injunction was violation interstate commerce laws, so it had to be repealed.

Tim at center > any free agent scrub or spurs roster candidate.

troy murphy > any big on spurs roster except TD

unrealistic at this point but one can hope for a miracle.

Are you stoned? You've commented in basically every thread for like the last month, including every thread discussing Al Harrington, and every time it's been mentioned, a discussion as to the implications of the Atlanta injunction preventing them from signing players to more than 1 year contracts has been mentioned.
