Smith Not the Shooter Hornets Want Darnell Mayberry of THE OKLAHOMAN writes, "The shooter the Hornets are searching for seemingly is already on the roster, just buried at the end of the bench. But Hornets guard J.R. Smith apparently hasn’t done enough of the right things in two seasons to lead Hornets coach Byron Scott to consider using next Wednesday’s NBA Draft on other needs." http://newsok.com/article/1876038/ sounds to me like the hornets wont hesitate to let him go if they get something they like in the draft!!! or maybe barry will be the shooter they want!!! what yall think? this is just some actually concrete proof that the hornets are willing to trade him, and we already know the spurs are interested in him!

I agree with JamesR about the original trade & if they want Nazr, I wouldn't mind a s&t that would bring PJ Brown back with Smith & Macijauskas...also in a couple of stories out there, Scott has said he wants at least 2 or 3 more "shooters" on the team...IMO, there's still a chance for the original trade to go down.

JR Smith is not the answer for the SF the Spurs really need. He's a 6'6" 2 who can shoot, not a 6'9" 3 who can rebound and defend. Still an interesting option, if only for potential, but this trade hardly helps the Spurs now if anything at all. Just by reading some coments, I often find myself wondering if people can tell the difference between JR Smith and Josh Smith.

smith would be a great player to have, but a big, quick sf is definately more important. that oughta be their 1st priority, but smith would be terrific if they can't get the sf - his trade value will definately rise after playing next to tim duncan too. pj brown though? i can't understand the love going round here for him.

why not get all 3? What would it take to get smith, brown AND claxton? Assuming we trade Barry/S&T Nazr and maybe the rights to Scola. To me, that solves the PF/C problem with Tim in the middle, the backup point guard problem (personally, I like Beno, but Speedy is better) and we add some youth/athleticsm. Granted, we still need a SF to eventually replace Bowen, but I think that's a solid line-up C-Brown/Jak/Bonner-really all 6 of these are interchangable and not including Scola PF-Tim/Horry/Oberto SF-Bowen/Williams SG-Ginobili/Smith PG-Parker/Speedy/Beno thoughts? |

PJ would be a stop gap for the center position this year & he only has one year left on his contract, so it would come off the books after next season...freeing up more money next summer...IMO, if the Spurs s&t Nazr, it will be for a big with an ending contract, unless there is just some center that the team is in love with that they wouldn't mind paying big money to.

But if I remember correctly...he liked the Spurs...would have liked to stay...liked the organization...there wasn't any resentment...he just moved on. Now...the possibilities are there that he might return. Again...sometimes things just don't fall into place in this league even if the team and a player like each other.

Posted on CNNSI in the NBA rumors section: Speedy Claxton would be a good fit in Dallas and it's a possibility, but he's expressed some interest in returning to San Antonio. -- Dallas Morning News |

Spurs and NO had a deal but then another team called and worked out a deal with NO that caused their cap space to change and thus making the Barry null & void. NO & SA tried to get a third team involved to work it out but it didn't work out and then the deadline hit. |
