penny wants to be a spur?

http://www.myeyewitnessnews.com/spor...1-5F9A1AF31E62

ES: What are some teams you would be interested in maybe going to?

Penny: Well home first of course, you know with the Grizzlies. The Lakers are interested, the Spurs. Ah, Miami and the Rockets. Those teams are on my list right now. All I have to do is make a phone call to come in and workout. And show them that I am healthy enough to play and to see where it goes from there.

Whats funny is my brother and I had a talk about this a few days ago before this article came up. My brother knows his cousin and told me through his conversation with his cousin that the Spurs are on the top of his list as a team he would like to play for. I would be all for having Penny if this was a few years back when he was atleast solid but now he is totally washed up and done. Its time the spurs left these old timers alone and bring in a few young guys.

I think we're a bit too obsessed with young guys right now. Penny certainly can't hurt us. I don't expect him to get big minutes, but if he comes cheap I can't think of a reason not to have him on the roster.

How many people were excited for NVE to sign with us last year? Honestly, I wasn't estatic, but was optomistic. I think a lot of teams would take that gamble if like he says "he shows that he's healthy enough to play" and doesn't cost the team tons of money. The guy's been injured for more than half his career and still has career averages of 15 PPG 4.5 RPG 5 APG.

The hugh contract Penny signed is gone now, so people shouldn't still be expecting but so much from the guy. But, he does know how to play the game, even if it is just for 10-15 MPG if needed. IMO he could easily put up better numbers than Nick did last year.

whens the last time he stepped on the floor and did something productive?

I bet it was when he was in PHX like 2-3 years ago

Well, he hasn't played. I don't know if that was by choice in NY or because he couldn't due to injury. But his last productive game played was Dec 7, 2005 and here was is box score:

6 Pts 3/8 FG 2 Reb 2 Assists 1 Steal and he played an astonishing 21 Minutes

I'd consider that productive. Eventhough that was the Knicks.

Maybe they were, maybe they weren't. It's not like we don't ever shot airballs. It isn't like the guy's been playing a whole lot lately? We shoot plenty of jump shots, sometimes it hits and sometimes it doesn't. But that doesn't mean you don't shoot.

There's a 0% chance the ball will go in, if no one shots it.

I'm just saying the guy has no legs anymore.

He's a broken down guard reaching for something he can't do anymore.

He was big in 2000 when the Suns eliminated the Timless Spurs in the first round. But that's a long time ago!

I'd be more inclined to sign Shaq five years from now than sign his former partner Penny for next season.

And show them that I am healthy enough to play and to see where it goes from there.
who's next? shawn kemp? please. if the spurs are going to bring in coat tailers, i want good coattailers. finley? good. van exel? bad. penny? bad.

I must say that it is too bad that big penny sucks because I really miss those lil penny commercials.
