Here it is, first year since 98 the Spurs nor LA is in the FINALS...

The end of a run from two dominant franchises who OWNED THE WEST for 7 years or so on end, comes to and end I hated LA no doubt, but the run the two teams had trading titles out West was just crazy, the domination between the two teams was fun to watch.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. I feel like the NBA is trying to phase out what made basketball great in the Bulls-Spurs-Lakers Era (96-05). That's probably not even right, it just feels like that.

Believe me I am not happy at all about this, just really awed by the way they dominated the West from 98-05, it's like nobody else had a shot to win it when they were in it.

That's why we're rooting for the Pistons.. We want the championship club to be very exclusive.

Even weirder, if Miami wins against Detroit consider this:

Since the 1978-79 season - through the year 2004-05, there will be no:

LA Lakers (8-3)
Boston Celtics (3-2)
Philadelphia 76ers (1-1)
Detroit Pistons (3-1)
Chicago Bulls (6-0)
Houston Rockets (2-2)
San Antonio Spurs (3-0)

26 seasons, just 7 different franchises, 35 appearances out of a possible 52.

Of course, this is really not too different from the first 26 seasons of NBA ball:

1947-1972

Philadelphia Warriors (Golden State Warriors) 2-3
Baltimore Bullets (defunct) 1-0
Minneapolis Lakers (LA Lakers) 6-8
Rochester Royals (Sacramento Kings) 1-0
Syracuse Nationals (Philadelphia 76ers) 2-2
Boston Celtics 11-1
St. Louis Hawks (Atlanta Hawks) 1-3
New York Knicks 1-4
Milwaukee Bucks 1-0

Again, 26 seasons, 9 different franchises, 21 out of 52 possible appearances. Granted, there were fewer around teams at that time, but it's similar and still noteworthy.

The Larry Obrien trophy can NOT be in the hands of posers.

For the love of God, WIN DETROIT!

That's exactly what I've been telling people when they ask why I won't cheer Dallas on to the Finals....but I didn't know about 98' and the Lakers and Spurs...crazy!!! Very proud...gonna go call some Spurs fans of mine and cheer them up.
