Cuban on Bowen: 'I shouldn't have cursed'

SAN ANTONIO – Mavericks owner Mark Cuban acknowledged swearing at San Antonio Spurs forward Bruce Bowen immediately after Friday’s Game 6 in Dallas. But Cuban disputed other details of a story that appeared Monday in the San Antonio Express-News.

“Didn’t quite happen like they reported, but [it] doesn’t matter,” Cuban wrote in an e-mail Monday afternoon. “I shouldn’t have cursed at him, regardless. I sent over an apology right after the game that our security personnel reported he received and acknowledged.

“End of story.”

The Express-News said Cuban used “a coarse, two-word curse whose meaning was unmistakable.”

Bowen, who has verbally dueled with numerous opposing players, told the newspaper he didn’t respond. He said the incident reflected on Cuban.

“It’s him,” Bowen told the Express-News. “I was caught off guard by it, but it speaks a lot to me about who he is.”

I guess its better then the whole Terry insident. Where at first he said it didn't happen, then said he did hit Finley, then appologized to his team and coaching staff, but not to his former team mate who he hit in the nutz.

Cuban at least sent an appology to Bowen, instead of what that coward Terry did.

Just seeing anyone own up to their mistakes these days is a step in the right direction. But I would understand if any Spurs' fan was unforgiving towards Cuban, he's been a bad representative for the game. He could and should be one of the more positive influences for basketball, in terms of being the lucky owner who gets people interested. But to continually embarrass himself and the league, it's just sad.

He only apologized because Bruce told him to meet him after game 7 behind the Coliseum so he could kick his AZZ! So Marky Mark panicked and said "hey Bruce, no hard feelings"

Yeah. before I just thought of him as a goofy dork with lots of money. He's really a loose cannon, diehard fan who doesn't understand his role as on owner and the responsibility he has.
