http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/b...k.d005c2b.html Full of emotions: Whether it be Jerry Stackhouse's glare, Terry's jab, Finley's three emphatic dunks or Mavericks owner Mark Cuban's criticism of Spurs' fans, the series hasn't lacked for emotional moments. None, however, were more surprising than what transpired in the second quarter of Friday's game when Tim Duncan picked up his third foul and exchanged words with Mavericks assistant coach Del Harris. After Duncan complained about the call, Harris said something to him. Duncan offered a retort and the exchange continued for about a minute. Harris isn't the first coach to complain about Duncan's complaining. Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson told him to stop whining after a call in the 2004 Western Conference semifinals. |

Tim wouldn't whine near as much if the refs actually called the fouls correctly.

Ducan *****ing because he's getting beaten with no call, while Dirk gets touched and it free throws. The entire Mavericks team complains about every damn foul they get called for, they have no room or reason to tell anyone else to quit whining when they are the masters of complaining. There owner has complained about every damn team they know thew coulnd't beat in a playoff series. Going so far as to send in tapes of each teams superstar player showing something they do that's illegal. Cuban has always known that his sorry azz team isn't going to win crap without the refs bailing them out. The Spurs have won all 3 of thier games on actual shots. The Mavericks have won 2 of thier 3 games at the free throw line. That has everything to do with them feeling like they are out there playing 5 on 8. Because when the refs have let the players decide the game in a down to the wire finish, the Spurs have hit big shots while the Mavs have chocked while looking to the refs for a bail out.

Del Harris will be performing tonight's national anthem. ![]() oh, say can you see, buy the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming. who's bright strips and broad stars, in the parelious night, o'er the rampart's we watched, as the da da, da, da, da, da, and the rocket's red glare, lots of bombs in the air, gave proof to the night, that we still had a flag, oh say does that spangle banner wave, over all-l-l-l-l that's free, over the home, of the land, and the land of the free! |

What he said to Artest was not derogatory or demeaning in any way, shape, or form. Pop, even when making a point of contention, is always respectful to other players. |

The fact of the matter is Duncan is so fundamentally sound he really does draw fouls on most plays... its like the refs hold him to a higher standard. It has to be galling when Nowinski parades to the line on touch fouls and he's jabbed in the eye or across the wrist for the umpteenth time and -nothing-. |

Timmy wouldn't "whine" if the refs called the fouls like they should. Point is, Timmy get's fouled almost everytime he has the ball but the refs can't call it because the game would take 5 hours to play. However, dirk seems to get the call everytime someone breathes too close to him so he doesn't need to complain.

All superstars whine. It's not like Tim is doing anything different from other stars. Michael Jordan used to whine and argue with refs a lot. Shaq and Kobe used to whine when they were winning their rings (and they still whine). Maybe my memory is short but I can't think of any star player that doesn't whine or complain during the game about foul calls. And Mavs fans - your "star" Dirk does it too. It's a fact of life. Get used to it. |
