Kings fans calling for Manu to be taken out?

wow.

Quote:
I am ready, though, to talk about how this affects Manu Ginobili in whatever game in this series appears to be a season-ending one for the Kings.

That kid is going to get laid out. Seriously. And I can't wait.

Maybe Arthur Bonzarelli can pass on a greeting to Balki tomorrow night. It'd be the gentlemanly thing to do, of course.

Quote:
Come Wednesday morning the Spurs...all of them... need to feel the physical pain from Tuesdays game....all fair in love and the playoffs. I feel high elbows, well placed knees, maybe a pick set on TP like the one CWebb put on Stockton that one time or one like B52 put on Rid in last years playoffs.

I don't understand where all this hate for Manu comes in? The guy that killed them was Tony Parker. Manu is a rugged, old-school throw back. I don't think he is going to be scared of physical play. If I were Sacramento, I'd be more afraid of getting the guy upset.

And just who else on the Queens roster, besides Ron 'The Hitman" Artest, is supposed to do this kind of physical enforcing? Brad Miller? STFU or we'll sick Brucie on ya.

Kings wouldn't be stupid enough to do that. they lost Artest for game 2, i'm sure they don't want to risk losing anyone else (thin bench as is) and i'm sure that newspaper article was made known to Stern.

I have a novel idea....why not play basketball (Spurs vs Kings) and we will see who is the best. What's with all this putting a hit on Manu or Tony crap????? Is that what the Kings are.....a bunch of thugs?????? If so...then they chose the wrong profession.

Not all Kings fans are crazy.

But give me a break. Ron Artest did NOT deserve to be suspended for a game. If his name were anything other than Ron Artest, he would have been charged a flagrant-1 and fined. Simple as that.

That's all right, though, we'll take it in stride. I definitely still wouldn't count them out of Game 2.

Artest being suspended has nothing to do with 'Being Artest'. Artest tracks manu and deliberrately sticks a forearm to his face.

The NBA warned all teams to tone down the cheap shots. Apparently Artest was listening to his ipod.

It takes a lot of love and compassion to revive a dead horse. 9 times even!

Unless they're only doing it so they can beat it to death again...

If the Kings start getting physical/dirty I look for Nazr to take some action. He is working on on new contract for next year raise the soft image of the Spurs would be to throw a few flagrants right back at them. Definately don't instigate it but if they want to play that way we will. He would become an instant fan favorite if he threw it right back at them. Rasho could do it but I think I've given up waiting for him to get a mean streak.

Playing physical is just translation for "we can't play defense worth a crap."

If you have to resort to physical play rather than......oh, I don't know.....actually staying in front of your f*ckin man, then you aren't playing basketball at all. And if you don't thnink that the officials aren't going to be looking for retaliation from the Kings in game 2 your fooling yourselves. It would just break my heart if another King player was suspended for Game 3 for playing too physical tomorrow.

ahh BLninja. that poster tends to over dramatize things, just a heads up.

i was shocked when i read that, don't get me wrong, i'm pissed about the suspension, but i would NEVER want anything like that to happen. thats just way too extreme, it's just a game for crying out loud.

I spent some time this afternoon perusing the various Kings forums, and after getting used to the way things work around here, I was rather shocked at the language and general crass attitude displayed by the Kings' fans on those boards.

I understand that these fans are most likely not a proper sample of the majority of Kings fans, but the rabid ones do tend to stand out.

I also believe that Rick Adelman is too much of a gentleman and true sportsman to allow any further thuggery this season. He understands that he run with the Kings is most likely over, but I seriously doubt he would allow anyone to intentionally hurt another player. Further, the NBA is going to be watching this game like a hawk. It is in no one's interest to see another player intentionally hurt; such actions detract from the game as a whole. I have said it in other threads, and I will say it here again, the NBA has a vested interest in keeping players healthy and will not stand for or tolerate thuggery, especially in the playoffs. Stu Jackson sent his message today and I believe that it will be heard.

Artest shouldn't have been suspended, but his rep hurt him this time.

as Amente posted in te other thread..the rule is pretty clear...and watching the clip about a millon times today it certainly looks like Artest was being intentional with it. The NBa thought it was intentional too. Artest looked right at Manu as he lifted his elbow and only looked away at the last second as it made contact with Manu's head. An intentional elbow above the shoulders is an automatic one game suspension

You can't tell me that his rep wasn't the leading factor in that. If Manu did that, he wouldn't be suspended for a game. I'm pretty sure about that. Does he deserve a big fine? Yes.

it may have had something to do with it but I dont buy he didnt deserve to be suspended

the NBA rules say he did..and they were not written just for Artest. Manu wasnt suspended for his elbow because it wasnt seen as intentional. Understanding intent can something be a grey area but having seen the clip today so many times I think Arest was intentional in what he did. I can see why the NBA thought so.

Of course he did something that he could be suspended for. But they didn't have to suspend him, and I don't think they needed to. But it's Artest. Anything he does will be magnified 100x more than any other player. As I said, if Manu did that, there likely wouldn't be a suspension, even if he deserved to be.

Even Bowen wasn't suspended for his kick, which was with intent previously. Heck he wasn't even going to be fined.

sure they did. He intentionally smacked a player in the head with his forearm. it was a Malcious hit that seemed premeditated. Its clearly against NBA rules. I dont see anything wrong with him being suspended...Artest or not. If you are going to do something intentional like that...and in the playoffs..a fine isnt any sort of punishment for these people.

I'm pretty sure if Manu intentionally hit someone in the head with his forearm, he would be suspended too. The rule is pretty clear. And as far as Artest's situation being magnified 100X, he should expect to have that more attention on him. People haven't forgotten who Artest is. It's not right, but people are human, so that should be more or a reason for him to do everything right, instead of trying to get away with little cheap shots, and blame his rep for getting him caught.

But it wasn't above the shoulders as the rule implies, an intentional hit above the shoulders.

Well Bowen a long time ago kicked Wally in the head. I recall he only got fined...if so.

Also, if Artest kicked Allen on the ground, he defintely would have been suspended. Do I feel sorry for Artest? No. He created that rep. Do I think it had a lot to do with it? Yes.

I dont think so..not if it happened exactly the way Bowens situation did..as Bowen was basically getting Allen off him. that wouldnt have warranted a suspension by the rules...he would have been fined like Bowen (who shouldnt have been fined..but Allen b!tched to the league)

What Artest did certainly is a suspendable offense. His rep prob entered into it but that doesnt mean the NBA made the wrong call here. You intentionally smack someone in the lead like that and you should expect strong punishment

Did we have that rule back then? If we didn't, it's probally the reason we have that rule now, huh? I don't know if "kicks" to the head would be intentional though, that should be 2 games.

I think the current "shot to the head" rule was prompted by Anthony Peeler, oddly enough, in a playoff series when Peeler played for Minnesota and took a shot at a Kings player. Thus, the current rule is probably around three or four years old.
