I don't understand where all this hate for Manu comes in? The guy that killed them was Tony Parker. Manu is a rugged, old-school throw back. I don't think he is going to be scared of physical play. If I were Sacramento, I'd be more afraid of getting the guy upset.

Kings wouldn't be stupid enough to do that. they lost Artest for game 2, i'm sure they don't want to risk losing anyone else (thin bench as is) and i'm sure that newspaper article was made known to Stern.

I have a novel idea....why not play basketball (Spurs vs Kings) and we will see who is the best. What's with all this putting a hit on Manu or Tony crap????? Is that what the Kings are.....a bunch of thugs?????? If so...then they chose the wrong profession.

Not all Kings fans are crazy. But give me a break. Ron Artest did NOT deserve to be suspended for a game. If his name were anything other than Ron Artest, he would have been charged a flagrant-1 and fined. Simple as that. That's all right, though, we'll take it in stride. I definitely still wouldn't count them out of Game 2. |

Artest being suspended has nothing to do with 'Being Artest'. Artest tracks manu and deliberrately sticks a forearm to his face. The NBA warned all teams to tone down the cheap shots. Apparently Artest was listening to his ipod. |

If the Kings start getting physical/dirty I look for Nazr to take some action. He is working on on new contract for next year raise the soft image of the Spurs would be to throw a few flagrants right back at them. Definately don't instigate it but if they want to play that way we will. He would become an instant fan favorite if he threw it right back at them. Rasho could do it but I think I've given up waiting for him to get a mean streak.

Playing physical is just translation for "we can't play defense worth a crap."

If you have to resort to physical play rather than......oh, I don't know.....actually staying in front of your f*ckin man, then you aren't playing basketball at all. And if you don't thnink that the officials aren't going to be looking for retaliation from the Kings in game 2 your fooling yourselves. It would just break my heart if another King player was suspended for Game 3 for playing too physical tomorrow. |

I spent some time this afternoon perusing the various Kings forums, and after getting used to the way things work around here, I was rather shocked at the language and general crass attitude displayed by the Kings' fans on those boards. I understand that these fans are most likely not a proper sample of the majority of Kings fans, but the rabid ones do tend to stand out. I also believe that Rick Adelman is too much of a gentleman and true sportsman to allow any further thuggery this season. He understands that he run with the Kings is most likely over, but I seriously doubt he would allow anyone to intentionally hurt another player. Further, the NBA is going to be watching this game like a hawk. It is in no one's interest to see another player intentionally hurt; such actions detract from the game as a whole. I have said it in other threads, and I will say it here again, the NBA has a vested interest in keeping players healthy and will not stand for or tolerate thuggery, especially in the playoffs. Stu Jackson sent his message today and I believe that it will be heard. |

Artest shouldn't have been suspended, but his rep hurt him this time.

You can't tell me that his rep wasn't the leading factor in that. If Manu did that, he wouldn't be suspended for a game. I'm pretty sure about that. Does he deserve a big fine? Yes.

the NBA rules say he did..and they were not written just for Artest. Manu wasnt suspended for his elbow because it wasnt seen as intentional. Understanding intent can something be a grey area but having seen the clip today so many times I think Arest was intentional in what he did. I can see why the NBA thought so. |

Even Bowen wasn't suspended for his kick, which was with intent previously. Heck he wasn't even going to be fined.

I'm pretty sure if Manu intentionally hit someone in the head with his forearm, he would be suspended too. The rule is pretty clear. And as far as Artest's situation being magnified 100X, he should expect to have that more attention on him. People haven't forgotten who Artest is. It's not right, but people are human, so that should be more or a reason for him to do everything right, instead of trying to get away with little cheap shots, and blame his rep for getting him caught. Also, if Artest kicked Allen on the ground, he defintely would have been suspended. Do I feel sorry for Artest? No. He created that rep. Do I think it had a lot to do with it? Yes.

What Artest did certainly is a suspendable offense. His rep prob entered into it but that doesnt mean the NBA made the wrong call here. You intentionally smack someone in the lead like that and you should expect strong punishment |

I think the current "shot to the head" rule was prompted by Anthony Peeler, oddly enough, in a playoff series when Peeler played for Minnesota and took a shot at a Kings player. Thus, the current rule is probably around three or four years old. Rooster |
