"Tim Duncan Somewhat Overated"

Found this on HoopsHype's list of the next 10 greatest NBA players....

http://www.hoopshype.com/columns/greatest_hans.htm

7) Tim Duncan. I consider Duncan somewhat overrated, because he’s a center who bills himself as a power forward and thus often gets compared to those who play the 4 spot. But just because he can’t hold a candle
to Hakeem Olajuwon doesn’t mean he’s not great. Patrick Ewing couldn’t either, and he’s great. I put Duncan at Ewing’s level, right down to the shakiness in clutch situations. That said, he’s a deserving choice for the Top 60.

LOL shakiness in the clutch, he won three titles and finals MVP's, Ewing always choked in those big games and lost them pretty much, Duncan has won them..... BTW he is great, but some of that is way off, he has been great in the clutch too, otherwise he would not have 3 finals MVP's. Duncan is above Ewings level, that is a joke to compare them pretty much.

Notice how short his thing on Tim was while others were so long and drawn out, shows you he knows he has to put him up there and game him a backhanded comment while trying to act unbias or not a Tim hater like he is. I hate idiotic columns like this, the only one he doesn't prop on things is Tim.

Thinks he forgets Tim is in his prime still and has 3 titles under his belt and looking for more....Ewing just had nightmares of Jordan dunking on him....and Tim is not a center

The guy is an idiot its the same argument that is spewed over and over again by haters which is Duncan is only great because he is a center playing the PF position and therefore physically has an advantage against other PFs. I think wins speak much more of Duncan's legacy, there has never been a player that has won more then 70 percent of the games he has played in from day 1 in his career and up until now. Duncan proved to me in '01-02 that he is a special player when it comes to winning which is he just knows how to get it done even when he doesn't have the most talented players around him like in the '02 season, in which he had to play with a bunch over the hill veterans along with a young inexperience Parker but they still won 58 games when they probably should have only won 47-50 wins with the talent on that squad.

Duncan may call himself a PF and even if he is being guarded by so-called "under-sized" PF's, it's not like he's playing them one-on-one....the man is constantly double teamed. So this short blurb really doesn't hold any credibility.

Oh, and who here would consider Rasheed Wallace, Elton Brand, Kevin Garnett, Antonio McDyess, Danny Fortson, and Emeka Okafor undersized?

He put them in order and he put LeBron James and Dwayne Wade tied for Number 1 - tells you all you need to know about this f@#k stick.

I was just listening to STSA and Vexler and Walter are almost at this level of stupidity as well.

BOTH left Kevin Garnett, Jason Kidd,Reggie Miller and Gary Payton off their 'NEXT 10' List.

Amazing.

You beat me to it. I was just thinking that any reporter who would give the number one slot to James and Wade, who have not accomplished anything, has sh!t for brains.

Lets see if the TNT crew have better sense.

Isn't it funny that this guy says the TNT guys have no credibility when they were former players. What does this guy know about playing on the NBA level? Apparently less than the casual NBA fan.

Ewing was the worst great player I ever saw. Clumsy, absolutely no handle, not the best in the low post.

Don't get me wrong - Ewing was great. He had a nice jumper on the baseline, he had a great body and worked his ass off, and he played every game like it was game seven. But Duncan is much better than Ewing was.

How can you call him the "worst player" you ever saw - but then call him "great" in the very next sentence?

Not every player is going to be as graceful as Jordan or as fluid as Olajuwon. For many players, what seperates them from so many others is what they have inside them as much as what they have on the outside.

But most of the great ones have those same attributes you recognized in Ewing.

"worked his ass off, and he played every game like it was game seven".

And just for the record, yes: Duncan > Ewing

I called him "worst great player". It wasn't in the next sentence, it was the very same sentence. Here it is again:

What that meant was, of all the great players I've ever seen, he was the worst of them.

That is not an insult. I wish I could be the worst of the great players.

Right when I think I've seen it all, this masterpiece is written to prove me wrong.

I emailed that idiot and killed him, he has yet to respond back. This is another Duncan hater idiot who thinks he is boring I will bet on!!!! He hardly gave him props but had to put him there it seems, he had to diss him at the same time he put him there. This idiot is a joke. LMFAO at Wade and Bron being number one, where is Kobe???? Seriously they are #1 and what have they don't in their lives to put them above such people? Tim has killed playoff series, has three finals MVP's and so on, but Bron is above him and never made the offs? Wade who has never been to a finals above Tim? This dude is beyond a joke and a laugh, he smoked too much crack before he wrote this nonsense. BTW as of now Wilkins >>> Wade and Bron, sorry but he did it for years what they are doing and he is not up there?

BTW the writer of this is somewhat a freakin crackhead or a drunk, seriously he is delusional.

This guy is a moron. Tim is light years more deserving than his #1 choices of Lebron or Wade. Neither Lebron or Wade belong on the list yet. Lebron hasn't even made the playoffs and he's a top 60 player? When Shaq got in early in his career he had a track record of taking his team to the NBA finals. And not having Garnett on the list? What a joke.
