Lakers looking to trade

http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister...cle_999479.php

Jackson didn't rule out the possibility of the Lakers making a trade for a guard with more experience. The NBA's trade deadline is Feb.23, and Jackson has been keeping an eye on players who are out there.

"We know that we've got inexperience in the backcourt," Jackson said. "Sasha (Vujacic) and Smush are young players that have played well for us this year. We'd like to have a situation where we could help ourselves in depth."

They've been looking forever now....looking at other people making the deals while Mitch sits on his hands.

well i think its better for him not to make any deals just for the sake of getting deals done. I rather him make sure he knows what hes doing before he pulls the trigger.

it seems that he knew and ONLY HE knew what he did when he traded shaq. and when he aquired kwame. and mihm.
and what did he and only he know about the players he drafted? not one of the players he drafted (guess 8 or 9 players) has ever made any significant impact for the lakers.
some GMs in fact know what they are doing. mitch is for sure not a member of that group.

It's easy to sit in front of your computer and imagine up deals, but I'm pretty sure you can't do any better then him. Shaq demanded a trade, so what are your options? Let him sit on the bench for the year or move him out, and after looking at all the deals available he pulled the trigger. What happened has happened, you can't go back and undo it but would you like him to do more stuff like that then actually take his time on it? I'd much rather have him not do ANY trades unless he knows it'll help us in the long term... that means no more projects. As far as the draft goes, not everyone can have scouts like the Spurs, I wish that was possible but it is not. All Laker fans knew that if we drafted Bynum then it would take a couple years before he can actually contribute. He's shown flashes of brilliance, and he's only got a handful of NBA games under his belt so I'm sure he's going to be a 'significant impact' for the Lakers.f

As far as the Mihm deal goes, what's wrong with it? Payton for Mihm, Jumaine Jones, and Chucky. Payton was said to be a cancer in the locker room, and after all we did need a C since Shaq had already been traded.

If thats the case man, dont look for a trade anytime soon. That dude has not a clue whats going on. He's running neck and neck with a certain Gm in NY for worst GM of the League.

I thought the Mihm trade was decent. They got an average center with some bounce for an old PG that didn't want to be there. Bynum looks like he'll be solid, but he'll probably hit his prime in Kobe's twilight, so even if he turns out to be the next great post player they'll have a very small championship window.

I thought they really dropped the ball in the offseason, and in the Artest market. They need to admit that Odom isn't meshing well and ship him off already, and their missing some great opportunities.

Unless the Lakers are working a deal to trade Kobe, they've got nothing of value for any other team.

I'm not talking about deals just for the sake of making deals, but then you know that already. Now or later, he still won't know what he's doing.

LOL i think the buss' are really controlling him. I'm sure they love having him around because this way the Buss' will NEVER get any blame for whats going on, even thought I'm sure they know of everything that Mitch is going to do. I really think everyone associated with the Lakers needs to take some responsibility. I still don't see how Magic Johnson who owns a very little part of the Lakers can sit on national tv after Shaq had been traded and say 'I like Kobe, but I love Shaq'. I mean thats fine if thats the way you feel but how can you diss your franchise player like that.

Well, I think Bynum should be able to start in a year or two, because he's already showing a lot of passion and energy, which this Laker team is lacking. The Artest deal didn't go through because they really wanted Mitch to throw in Bynum which was not going to happen, Lamar was offered but they wanted more.

You never know what can happen, maybe another GM slips up or just absolutely wants one of our players (HAHAHA) then maybe Mitch can work some of his magic.

Well, no one knows what happened (unless you know anyone from the NBA who was there) but according to an article Odom is up for grabs.

Every report pointed to Artest being a Laker IF Odom had ever been offered up..... they didn't want to part with him for Artest.

The Lakers aren't getting squat unless they can find a team willing to take the risk on Odom. Maybe he can become a great player once he's away from Kobe, but he's one bong away from a year-long suspension.

Part of the problem was Odom started sucking more and more, and then suddenly he went on the block. Lakers were too slow to willingly let Odom go. They blew it there.
