As much as I respect reggie as a player, he doesn't seem to fit in too well with kenny charles and ernie. since he's new i guess that's to be expected, so i guess we'll se what happens. if he harps on the spurs a lot i can take it, since he's actually done something with his career unlike that no talent hack greg anthony.

Maybe he's just trying too hard on his first night out. He's trying to be insightful and just coming off whiney. Either way, my favorite thing about Reggie is how he sounds like he's about to break down and cry everytime he goes on one of his rants. His voice crackles and chokes up like a little kid who's telling on his older brother. Last edited by FairWeatherFan; 11-01-05 at 10:05 PM. |

Um, isn't Reggie being sent on the road to join Marv and Steve in Indiana? He may not be a studio analyst for too long. Miller's career has been known for clutch 3s and trash talking. Take the ball out of his hands and guess what he's left with? Still, it's OPENING NIGHT. I'll give him a few more telecasts. |

Maybe it'll just take some time for him to separate his biased opinions from his unbiased opinions since he's just barely retired. Atleast I hope so, cause this whole spurs suck, pacers rule feeling I got from him tonight is going to be annoying if he doesn't check his personal feelings at the door.

Ohhhh waaaahhhh someone said something bad about the Spurs ![]() I guess you missed him trash his own team earlier in the night... Reggie is one of the more engaging and interesting speakers in the league, he'll fit in fine there.

I've missed anything that happened after halftime of the Spurs game, but prior to that he had actually been pretty negative toward the team...

It's his first night and I guess I would give him a C+. He wasn't God-awful, but it did seem he was trying a bit too hard to be as funny as Sir Charles. He wasn't brought in for his comedic talent - but rather his basketball knowledge and analyisis. He doesn't have to be cracking jokes 100% of the time. He did seem to talk a bit too much over Ernie Johnson - but that will hopefully change in time.I'm sure it was just opening night jitters. I'm willing to give him more than just one night to give my overall impression of Reggie Miller as an NBA TV analyst. One thing that did surprise me was Reggie Miller not going the route of Magic Johnson and hopelessly pimping his own team. Miller actually picked the Pistons to win the Eastern Conference Title! He stated that Indiana had a few question marks and how any little thing could send this team in a different direction and how they had to prove they could get past some of the things that have plaqued them in the past. I applaud Millers honesty and candor in regards to his former team. BTW: Barkley then chimed in that Indiana would 55 or so games, but their weaknesses would be magnified in the playoffs. he said they would win nothing because no one on their team would take a big shot and make it. He stated how Miller had taken all the big shots for the Pacers in 18 years - and now he was gone, and they would have to figure that part out on their own. Barkley doubts they can - and so do I. I like Reggie Miller and always have. I rooted for this guy to win an NBA Title and look forward to watching him on TNT. As with his basketball career, I have no doubt he'll rise to the occasion. |

Hey he said a minute ago SA would run away with the West, and charles and them said add him to that now, now he says it!!!!! LOL. He also said I said where was Finley in the first half and he goes out and does that in the 2nd half and shuts me up on that, so he wasn't all bad out there give him a break. He thinks SA is the top dawg, he said it as well after the game, but it was not certain yet he said give it some time. He was not that bad, he didn't sh*t on SA like some do or not talk about them, he did alright out there for his first night. Settle down you guys jump on guys too quick in here, hear it all before you speak on it.

Hopefully he won't get to be in the studio that often. I think he might actually be a good color commentator - maybe that's where they'll try him on Thursday.. Anyone remember him flipping out on Craig Sager last year? Wonder how that's working out now.. |

The thing was that the very first time he got to talk about the Spurs, he tried dogging them, as if Finley and NVE weren't going to be able to fit in the Spurs offense. Then when they were talking about championships, Barkley was saying Spurs will win because they have that star that you need to win, and then Reggie chimes in with the Pacers have stars like Artest and J.Oneal.....to which he got owned by the rest of the TNT crew that told him, those players don't hit big shots. It was almost hard to watch. But of course, Reggie said good things after the game....how can you not? BTW, I really need to add that I see where Reggie and other analysts are coming from, prior to the fourth quarter of last nights game. Finley, NVE and even Oberto to an extent have NOT fit in, and the Spurs haven't looked like their offense was fluid....but it was all because the Spurs blew off the preseason, and it took 3 quarters before the Spurs turned on that switch and actually started playing "their" game. It's really hard for Finely and NVE to know how they fit, and how to adjust when the Spurs don't play the way they normally do....and that was my biggest gripe about the preseason, that everyone just ignored. So really, I can't dog Reggie for how he felt....from an outsider who doesn't know, it could look like Finely and NVE wouldn't fit. People need to chill and realize that game last night was game #1 of the season....Barkely understands, he knows....by the end of the season, the Spurs are going to be a juggernaut. ...and like I said in another thread, people need to not dog those who like to ***** about analysts, because we're so used to doing it, we don't know what else to do. |

It was halftime where I was mostly pissed off with Reggie, saying that Finley and NVE were pretty much busts. I'm thinking, "damn, it was one half of basketball, the only constant for the Spurs O was Timmy". I liked Reggie as a player, but I think he is going to piss me off as an analyst. It was the reverse with Sir Charles. I hated him as a player, but love the guy now. |

Although I do think it's clear that he has a Pacer's bias, I don't really know what else we would expect from him. I mean, this is the exact same group of guys he played with last year. I also think his Pacer's bias was amplified by Charles "dogging" of his team.

the thing that you gotta love about Barkley is that he just doesn't care. He doesn't care, because he already has money, he has no agendas....he just talks basketball the way he sees it. It takes a few years for some analysts to really get unbiased, because at first they're trying to fit in and not step on toes.

reggie just seemed out of sorts, as if he could not figure out the styles of kenny, charles and ernie. he also seemed to be shocked to hear all the love for the spurs, as if they are not supposed to get any respect. that is what a defending champion gets, reggie!
