NBA Player Shot Zones (Interesting 82games.com article)

NBA Player Shot Zones

One of the more interesting things we hope to learn from our mega charting endeavor for the upcoming 2005-06 season is what the average points per possession looks like from different spots on the floor. For now we don't have details on where fouls or turnovers occur, which hinders this effort, but we do know where the shots themselves are taken from!

Because of tables, posting here is impossible, read the rest of the article here:

Interesting chart...cool to see how Bowen love's those corners. A lot of layups for Parker as well.

The authors did say it was the "no man's land" for shot attempts, so ~30% seems about right.

I'm pretty impressed that Tony is #6 in the league at getting to the rim.

@ the thought of TP developing a consistent jumper to compliment his ability to get to the rim.

People don't like Parker and consistently trash him but he is one of the absolute best in the league at getting to the rim, and then finishing despite his lack of size and jumping ability, finishing those drives.

If you compare his layups vs his overall shot percentage, you start to get an idea of just how bad his jumper is.

There has been a noticeable drop-off in TDs ability to hit the bank shot. He no longer faces the basket very often. I hope this is because of his injuries last year and not simply an aging thing.
