Has nothing to do with the Spurs, so anyway ... here goes Does anyone know how Jerry West came to be known as "The Logo" of the NBA? Since it's really slow around here I thought I'd come up with some off the wall questions to see if anyone knows. Here's another one: And I know I should know this one, but I don't... When was the trophy named Larry O'brien? Did it have a name before then? I know I can probably google the questions, but I'm working and it's hard to go on a scavenger hunt right now -- So I thought I'd give you all a chance to put on your thinking caps and type away. Thanks for any responses. And let's hurry up and get this darn season started already!

^^ correct. And here's some info on the Trophy, The NBA championship trophy was renamed the Larry O'Brien Trophy in 1984 in honor of Commissioner Larry O'Brien who served the league from 1975-84. The trophy replaced the Walter A. Brown Trophy, which was named after the pioneering owner of the Boston Celtics. The trophy is hand-crafted in the Tiffany & Co. workshop of sterling silver and vermeil (a 24-karat gold overlay). Overall, the trophy consists of 16 pounds of sterling silver, stands two feet high and features a gold regulation size basketball of nine-inch diameter.

I'm surprised The Logo himself didn't answer that.
