Spurs don't need Finley and it doesn't matter to me if he comes or not but Brown falls in the same category. if he returns fine, if he doesn't then no big deal. Neither one is a championship breaker or maker. |

Don't worry, Finley will probably sign with the Heat, because Wade and Snaq, cough, Shaq are on video game covers, and the Heat have made huge posters of Finley and stuff. The Heat are like MTV and the Spurs are like VH1. All that marketing has to pay off for the Heat, right? Maybe, if you are a dumba$s. I guess we will see how smart Michael Finley is......... I would take Finley over Devin, easily. |

What I'm seeing is that thier chasing of Finley will end up costing them the guy's the had pegged for plan B and C. They were interested in J Jones, and Maurice Evans, as well as a few others, but those guys have already been swooped up while the Spurs are waiting on Finley. If they don't end up getting Finley, they will probably be left with worse options then they had only a week ago, and Devin looks more and more like he will be back. Which might not be a bad thing at all, but only if his back really is healed.

I don't think Finley will win or lose our championship in the upcomming season, but having him and Big Dog on the second string with Barry or Beno definitely gives us a better scoring second team than what we have now with Devin. Quote:

The whole Finley deal has caused some teams to hault until final and others as with the Pistons moved forward and signed a couple of players they liked. |

Perhaps the Spurs are confident they can get Finley and if not dont feel PASSING on Finley to prob not end up with a Jones or Evans anyway wasnt worth it...or were willing to give out what was needed to get those players (4 years for Jones) .Devin is a better option than Evans anyway IMO |

But as with the Nuggets, word from the league is that Finley told the Pistons he wasn't interested. I have gone back and read some of articles since Finley was waived and by all appearances it was nothing but pure speculation that Finley's top two choices was between the Pistons and Heat. anyway, the Spurs have been in contact with those other free agents since July 1st but they were not going to over pay or commit themselves to too many years for those players (just like with Devin.) They weren't that high on their list. I don't think FO is depressed right now over having lost Jones or Evans. |

The thing about Finley is, teams do believe this is a guy that can put them over the hump. The others FAs, some maybe nice to have, but not so much as a difference maker. I can see how Finley can be a difference maker even though he's no longer at all-star level.

Finley would not put us over the hump, since we are already over that hump, but getting him would make that hump much higher for everyone else. We don't need him to win a championship, but he will definitely help make us that much better than the rest of the league.

Since that Pietrus deal is shot and since its realistic of Finley not coming here. We will see what backup 3 we get. We really need one. It doesnt have to be anyone special but we do need one and need to get one soon. Yes I want the friggin roster to be filled up already but I trust Management. They know whats needed even if it is for short term.
