Former Sixth Pick looks for job

Sixers Bring In Wagner For A Workout
21st August, 2005 - 11:42 am
PhillyBurbs.com - The 76ers worked out former local star Dajuan Wagner in private after the team's morning rookie/free agent camp session Friday in Philadelphia.

Wagner, a 6-foot-2 guard, is a free agent because the Cavaliers, who made him the sixth pick in the 2001 draft after one season at the University of Memphis, declined to offer him a fourth-year qualifying offer of $3.59 million.

It's unclear if the session was anything more than a chance for the Sixers to take a look at the 22-year-old Wagner, who is best known for scoring 100 points in a high school win over Gloucester Tech.

The Sixers declined comment on the matter.

Mainly, it's about him not being big enough to be an effective 2 in the NBA and not having the skills to be a 1.

He has had his share of bad luck, he had an illness which kept him out most of one year and then injuries have further slowed him down.

and i thought it was about marcus fizer (but he was a nr. 4 pick i guess anyway)
btw. any news about fizer? he's had a lot of injuries, but i'm still wondering why he can't find a team that needs a player like him. four years ago he was pronounced as an upcoming all-star. now at 27 he seems to be on his way out of the league.

When he has played...shoot first, ask questions later.

Ummm...why do you shoot under 40%, Dajuan?
