From their trade from Jake Vosuko (spelling) and the Joe Johnson trade..they will have 6.1 million to spend on other free-agents. quite impressive situation to be In. Suns will be very strong again next year even after losing JJ |

Thing is, they'll have a whole year to use those exceptions. |

I dont think the Suns want to incur any more long term salary than they have to right now with the re-signing of Amare next season. So who knows they may not even use it on other free agents.

I tend to agree. I doubt they use much of it, if any. Well, ... they shouldn't want to. Quote:

The thing is, it's a TRADE exception. They don't suddenly have $6.1 mil to start signing free agents with. They have the ability to take back $6.1 mil more in player salary in a trade than they would be giving up.

They're clearing money for Amare's max deal. The only way they use that money this year is if they find someone willing to take a one-year deal. Don't forget that the Suns also blew out Quentin Richardson to stay with Sarver's long-term budget. Phoenix doesn't make it past the second round this year.

Didn't realize thee posters are thinking they can use these to sign free agents. They cannot, these are TRADE exceptions. This is why they can only offer a veteran minimum of $1.1 million to Finley for next season while they are thinking of maybe using the trade exception to do a sign-n-trade for Payton. |
