(Columbia) Aug. 5, 2005 - Some fans started waiting in line at 6:30 Friday morning to get tickets to the Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs exhibition game, the first ever NBA preseason game scheduled at the Colonial Center. The Spurs are coming off their second title in three years. They'll square off with the Sixers on October 12th. One guy even brought his chair to sit it out. Tim Riley is a Sixers fan and just moved from New York. He says he was prepared for the long lines that wrapped around the building, "Being from New York, the majority of us have our lawn chairs because you have to wait two days overnight, things like that. This is pretty good just to wait a couple of hours and I'm close to the front." Jon Hogue is a Spurs fan who is also excited about the game, "Once in a lifetime thing, first time I've seen them come here, the NBA." There are a few tickets left, mostly for seats going for $84. The teams will meet up October 12th at 8:00pm. A pre-game block party will be held a few hours before the game outside the Colonial Center. Posted 7:20pm by Chantelle Janelle Link |
