LaFrentz The Next Victim Of Amnesty Clause?

Kevin Davidson/RealGM - While the Miami Heat will be playing for an NBA title in 05-06, the Boston Celtics are currently in line for an NCAA championship. After this latest deal by Ainge, there is not a single player on the Celtics roster in his 30’s. The “crafty veterans” have only been around since the 98-99 season in the forms of Raef LaFrentz and Paul Pierce. With 16 players now under contract for 05-06, it seems that at least one more move is necessary. Several things could happen, but here is one opinion on what should...

Cut Raef LaFrentz - The Boston Celtics were given an early Christmas present when the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) implemented the “Allen Houston” rule. The rule, also referred to as the “amnesty clause” is a one-time exception that allows every team in the league to release one player. They have until Aug. 15 to do so, to avoid paying any further luxury tax on the player's contract.

No, Boston will use their amnesty clause to waive the remainder of Vin Baker's contract, which is still on their books.

You know, sarcasm involving "trade Rasho" threads pop up just about as much as the "trade Rasho" threads themselves

key phrase in that write-up:

..., but here is one opinion on what should (happen).
It's the writer's opinion on what they should do.
Most GM's have indicated that they don't like the idea of waiving players under the Amnesty Rule and still have to pay the player to perform for another team. I don't think Boston is that high over the luxury tax threshold to warrant waiving him.

So who has been let go because of the "alan houston clause"?

1. Derrick Anderson
2. Nick Van Excel?

So has Alan Houston been let go yet? I mean after all the clause was named after him..

Just Anderson.

BTW, it appears Anderson may end up with the Lakers for the LLE.
