Gonzaga bummed about losing player to Spurs

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University not only lost senior Ronny Turiaf to the National Basektball Association Draft, but the Bulldogs also saw his possible replacement slip away last Tuesday night in New York.

Ian Mahinmi, an 18-year-old, 6-10, 230-pounder from Rouen, France, was the 28th pick of the NBA champion San Antonio Spurs.

Mahinmi was recruited by the Bulldogs, made an official visit to the school and committed to Gonzaga during the past season. Last season he played for STB LeHavre of the French professional league, averaging 6.2 ppg and 2.2 rpg.

"We would have loved to have him in a Zag uniform, but he made the decision to go professional," Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said.

Turiaf was taken as the 37th pick by the Los Angeles Lakers.

if by tap, you mean they can spot the players, i guess so. if you mean they are getting the players, looks like that's not holding up.

I remember him committing to the Zags. Gonzaga does a good job of scouting international players.

He's only 18, any chance he'll grow taller? Can't wait to see him in a Spurs uniform...........
