Devin's Injury

You hate to see a guy hurt--- especially with a back injury. But doesn't the injury bode well for the Spurs resigning him?

In terms of keeping his value down? Hard to say. Depends on how many other teams have done enough scouting to see his potential. He played well against LA in the playoffs last year and had a great season up until the injury. He may not be so under the radar anymore.

IMO the Spurs already known his value. If anything, it may affect what other teams will offer him. Although if he has a solid playoff, this may all be a moot point anyways.

Yeah, it is funny how an injury can help a team in a strange sort of way. For instance, If D Rob hadn't missed that season in 1998, would we have Tim Duncan right now? So, hopefully, this backs some of the teams off of Brown's radar and we can sign both Brown and Scola in the off-season with the MLE.

How sweet would that be!

Devin's injury probably did take a few dollars off what he could get, but a healthy playoff return and a strong performance can earn them right back. It just all depends on how well he plays and/or how often.

Side note: Any money used to sign Devin does not come out of the MLE. We've got early bird rights on him so we can give him a contract up to an amount equal to the MLE, but that's a completely separate and independent deal from Scola.

It may or it may not.

It could also make the Spurs not want to committ too much in a deal if they
feel because of his back he may be a risk.

The only way I see him not signing with the Spurs is if he's offered a starting role on another team.

He has recently been quoted as saying something to the tune of "I am not even considering other options. SA is where I want to stay." So, I'm pretty sure we'll get ti done, back injury or not.

As well it might also discourage other teams from taking a chance on him too!

Hopefully we will have enough in the MLE to sign both GRob and Scola, and use Early Bird rights on Devon.
Amente, is this scenerio within the realm of possibility?

The guy has a herniated disc. It's not like he broke his spine or something.
