Today, Leonard is eligible for SuperMax contract

by Bobby Marks, ESPN

Kawhi Leonard is now super max eligible (third year anniversary of the contract signed on July 16, 2015) to receive a five-year $221 million extension from the Spurs. If Leonard is traded, the most he could receive in an extension (six months after the trade) would be $108 million over four-years (starting in 2019-20). Leonard would be eligible to sign a five-year $190 million contract as a free agent with the team acquiring him or four-years $141 million with a team that has cap space. Leonard would not be super max eligible as a free agent with the new team acquiring him even if he earned All-NBA honors in 2018-19.

turns out it was all a stunt to throw off the media and get additional press coverage for the spurs organization.
leonard to re sign w spurs, has always been happy. seen laughing and drinking wine w pop.

Hahaha, just kidding. he still hates the spurs. but he cant talk. he also continues to remain mute and his strings pulled by his "people" like a puppet.

I wonder if Kawhi would do a sign and trade deal . . . . . especially with someone like the 76ers.

If he was willing to a Supermax sign and trade, I am certain the 76ers would give us the

Saric, Covington, Fults, and 2 first rounders for Kawhi

Trade since they would get the guarantee that Kawhi was going to stay.

Anyone know if you can do a Supermax sign and trade?

There are sign and trades going on all the time. Did the league put a special clause in the supermax bylaws to restrict trades after signing this kind of contract? Seems there would be some kind of waiver involved --- seems you can almost waiver anything --- loopholes!!
