Kyle Anderson signs 4 yr 37 mil offer sheet with Memphis

Heard this during the Bucks/Pistons summer league game just a few minutes ago:

Adrian Wojnarowski: San Antonio Spurs restricted free agent Kyle Anderson has signed a four-year, $37.2 million offer sheet with the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources told ESPN.

I would really hate to lose him. Thought he was really solid for us.

But damn losing parker, Anderson, possibly Kawhi and Gino. Then next year pops last year. Ouch!

Not a bad deal to match. We will find out what the Spurs actually think of him. He is an MLE player and that is what the contract looks like.

Less than Danny Green got a few years ago, so the price is right. If the Spurs want him, they can have him on very good financial terms.

IMO Slow Mo would need to be able to shoot the 3 at a 35%+ clip in order for Spurs to pay money like that. Having him, Murray and Aldridge on the floor at same time is an equation for failure with how the game is played now and how it will be played in the future. He also seemed to get flustered in pressure situations when it came to turnovers. I won't lose sleep if The Spurs donít match it.

On a small note though, matching or not matching might also be a sign as to where the Spurs really are with trade negotiations. A lot of the teams, 76ers, Lakers, and Boston (although they said they aren't giving any of them up to the public) have some nice SF/PF types that would fit in well with the Spurs.

Spurs Unlikely To Match Offer For Kyle Anderson?
July 8th, 2018 at 12:31pm CST by Arthur Hill

As tonightís deadline approaches, the Spurs are leaning toward not matching the Grizzliesí offer sheet for Kyle Anderson, tweets Jabari Young of The San Antonio Express News.

Memphis extended the four-year, $37.2MM offer on Friday, so the clock is winding down on San Antonioís 48-hour time frame to match the deal. The Spurs have luxury tax concerns, and Andersonís starting salary could push them to the brink of the tax. The offer sheet also includes a 15% trade kicker.

An injury to Kawhi Leonard created an opportunity for Anderson, who responded with the best season of his four-year career. He appeared in 74 games this year, starting 67, and averaged 7.9 points while establishing himself as a force on defense.

another reason why mills and to a lesser extent Marcos contracts were bad contracts.
