Anderson to the bench...

He's very limited and Gay needs to start...Like now! Rudy can drive, handle, post and shot. Oh yeah, he doesn't hesitate. He either the 3rd string guy or trade bait, but he's terrible. Anderson for Okafor!!

Yes, I just saw that article on Okafor on NBA.com (Reports: Philadelphia 76ers undecided on Jahlil Okafor's fourth-year option | NBA.com). I've always wondered what Okafor would do for us because he's a good inside man but lacking in the defensive area, much like Gasol. Since Embiid was cleared to play last year, Okafor's minutes have drastically been reduced. And evidently he has some injury issues as well. Since the Sixers have tried to move him the last couple of years and are anxious to move him now, maybe we can pick him up on the cheap. And since we got Gay for a couple years and Kawhi coming back soon, Anderson is going to see fewer minutes.

Regarding Anderson starting, I'm thinking Pop wants to have Gay anchor that 2nd unit with Manu and Patty and has Anderson in the starting spot until Kawhi comes back. Then it wouldn't be any adjustment issue for Gay if he were temporarily starting.

Rudy isn't bad as a one-on-one defender, but he frequently looks lost on defensive rotations. He'll probably get there, but the process will take time.

What's up with Patty?

Get well, Kawhi!

But at least Gay gives us something...Anderson is too passive. Patty, freshly, new....contract.

I think Anderson is starting for the same reason that Murry started in the playoffs last season rather than Patty and Corey Joseph used to start when Tony was injured.

Kawhi is the starting SF, and Gay is the backup SF/PF. Pop is establishing that role for Gay. When Kahwi comes back, nothing will change for Gay. He is learning his role even though Kahwi is injured.

problem w gays is that he's unreliable. he's got that solid injury prone history. makes sense to keep him coming off the bench and monitoring his minutes to get the most out of him when it counts. so i get why he's not bustin in the rotation as a starter and us leaning on him hard right now.
