Stanley Johnson?

Hell...I'd take him for Anderson and a pick. Plus Detroit owes us for Baynes, Boban and even Elliott! He's got Jimmy Butler size. I'd even compare him to an early Kawhi...not as good on defense, but darn good. Imagine him being able to transform his jumper to something near Kawhi's with Chip E.? I'd get Danny Green out of there so fast! My bad...Johnson is more like Joe Johnson size, 6'7", 245! Slide Leonard to the 2 and Johnson to the 3.

Didn't know the Spurs tried to low ball the Pistons. He sure as hell has more potential than Anderson! And they best not disrespect Boris Diaw again by comparing the two!

From what I've read on this issue, there were a couple other teams, besides the Spurs, who voiced their interest in Johnson during that suspension. I'm thinking Van Gundy took another look at Johnson's practice habits and regrouped due to the immediate interest throughout the league. I would have to pitch my hat in the pile along with yours, MrJ, regarding Johnson. He's got a lot of upside and I'm sure he'd come around to Pop's way of coaching to get the most out of his potential.

I think we need to worry more about Simmons, he will become a free agent next year.

Don't know this for sure but I believe the Spurs can extend Simmons a qualifying offer, meaning he is restricted free agent and they will have the right to match any offer. He will get crazy money from us or someone esle. At least 13 to 14 a year but I believe the priority will be Dedmon. We can not let Dedmon walk, period!

I think you guys are overrating Simmons. If someone offers him 14 million he should take it an run.

We should have traded Simmons for Stanley Johnson straight up.

No way, Bud. I respect what you have written for years Chops on this site but think about the contracts last year (to many to list) he is almost guaranteed to get that money. Teams will have that money to spend and he will get it. What's nuts is Patty, Dedmon, and Simmons will all get contracts starting at 8 figures a year. Only way we retain two of these guys is by talking to Pau and asking him to opt out and extend a contract for more years (kinda like what we did with R. Jefferson years ago.) RC has some work to do...If anybody gets traded, it would be Patty and just hope our stud D. Murray is ready...
